I had one in 1958, and it was lost for a while until I found it in a closet. It's not easy to lose a hula hoop. I was very good at it when I was a child, and I remember contests back then to see who could last the longest.

I can but I find it boring so I don't do it very often.

I decided to try hula hooping because I was inspired by GW member Terriks. She claimed that it help her waistline. She was right.

However, as soon as you stop, you lose the results quickly. I went to a circus arts place but they only did one session, enough to only learn one trick.

Fitness wise, I find it not worth the effort.

I went to a hula hoop class once & kept a hoop going for 40 minutes. The idea was the gals would chat while hooping, sort of a coffee clutch without the coffee. lol

I used to be able to hula hoop, have to admit I haven't tried for quite some time. My sister and I both had them, long gone now, there are none around here and I'd be surprised if she has hers. I'm imagining I could pick it up again, like riding a bike, once learned a skill you keep? That's one hoop, standard movement, nothing like your video of course.

I've never been able to keep a hula hoop up. Never figured out the right hip swing.

bringing back some fun memories from the early 60's. I am thinking it's worth trying again ( and no I am sure I will not be a star). Movement is a good thing right? Are they sold all over? haven't looked for one in years. I think my kids had them but they never caught on much.

They have weighted ones now. I find them much much easier to hula with.

I never could but my daughter was just like Annabelle. Could do it for hours and barely moved. I think that's the secret.

Lulu bella, they are sold in several different diameters in Walmart, I bought one for my grand daughter last year.

Way back when, I did it for hours and barely moved my body. I was able to do what she did plus a few other things such as lower it to my knees and back. Haven't tried in ages, but I think I could still keep it around my waist.

Hula Hoop is one of the exercises on our Wii system. I can do it, but it makes my back hurt, so... no.

LOL as a kid, yes. As an adult, no. We have a hula hoop that I tried to teach my dog to jump through. (She will do it, but doesn't seem to enjoy it.)

I've never tried it. But that was a fun video to watch.

Nope, never could. And when I was vacationing at a fitness spa once, I tried one of the belly dance classes, and couldn't seem to get the knack of that either, much to the instructor's confusion.

I want one. I taught someone how to do it a few years ago. They were trying to get the seniors at the retirement center to use them but the staff couldn’t do it themselves.

Once you get the hang of it, it's easy. I would do 15 minutes to the right and then 15 to the left.

Again, it did help my waistline, but as soon as you stop, the results wear off almost immediately.

I don't understand why this is.

I can be away from my weights and my arms can still stayed toned for 3 weeks while on vacation.
