Blooming and Blooming on Wednesday
Comments (14)Remy- It could be WISESTS OF WIZARDS but I don't know. There are a bunch of them that look too similar to me that I have which are MINSTRALS FIRE, LEE PICKLES and CONTINENTAL HOLIDAY. Of the three, the palest eyezone is in WISEST OF WIZARDS. Still even that changes from flower to flower. You can see that my two flowers were not exactly the same color and that was not a trick of the light. Here is CONTINENTAL HOLIDAY for comparison. I don't have pictures now of the others....See MoreBlooming on Wednesday
Comments (8)Rajah is an early Stout hybrid. Raspberry Flambe is sometimes splotchy, but today is looking pretty good. A Man Called Trout is new this year so it's blooming on a short scape, but it is a big flower. This one came from Canada from a hybridizer by the name of Don Longton. The seedlings are magnificent today, but we had time to get pictures of only a few. Here is the royal court. Sea of Cinders X Happy Holidays to You is shorter than we like, but the color and edge are amazing. Creepy Crawler X Pineapple Bites has some nice teeth. EE-6 X Forestlake Ragamuffin is another that is shorter than we like, but I like the flower. Bob likes New Tangerine Twist X Horns. It's a nice bright color, but I wish it had some teeth. Jewel of Jewels X Dr Jules Michael Vinkman is a big flower with a big eye. That's enough seedlings for today. Nancy...See MoreBlooming on Wednesday
Comments (7)The Houzz hobbits are playing games with our posts, it seems. Glad it was resurrected because there are lots of pretties here. Shirley Koch is right up my alley!! GORGEOUS. I see you're posting one year old seedlings and wanted to ask what percentage of your seedlings bloom the first year, roughly? And when you say one-year, by that do you mean they are started inside the prior year over the winter? I ask this because I just got started with seeds. I started roughly 260 seedlings in Feb. and March and they got planted in the garden in late May/early June. They are doing terrific and growing well. I am wondering if I could expect some blooms next summer. Also, I have 5 seedlings of Ink and Pink x Exotic Starfish....so I was happy to see your photo of Ink and Pink. Seeds were bought off the LA but this year I'm making my own (limited) crosses. Not much space so I have to be selective....See MoreBlooming on Wednesday
Comments (12)Mantis, I don't keep track of blooming as closely as you probably do, but I went back in my hybridizing records and found that last year Snidely was blooming on the 19th of June. The last entry for Snidely was July 24th. I believe it rebloomed, but I couldn't be sure of that....See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
