Help: Would like a small prep sink into 12x12 kitchen, no island
Comments (51)"The wall ovens were always preferable but optional, as was a 36" wide fridge as opposed to, say, a 31" wide that is taller." Regarding the refrigerator...stick with 36" wide by 70" to 72" tall. Manufacturers in/for the US are standardizing on 36"W x 70" to 72" tall refrigerators as their minimum size offering. Yes, you may find narrower ones here and there, but they're usually low-end of the mainstream refrigerators or very high end manufacturers (e.g., Liebherr). So, plan for this size space for your refrigerator: 38.5" wide x 72" tall. Width: 36" wide + 1.5" for end panels (3/4" on each side) + 1" for air clearance and wiggle room = 38.5" Height: 72" tall This way, you won't have to either search far and wide for a smaller refrigerator or pay $$$$ for a high-end refrigerator. Periodically over the years we've had people come to either here on the Kitchens forum or the Appliances forum frantically looking for a refrigerator to fit a small space (width and/or height). If it's a built-in, you don't have to accommodate the end panels b/c a built-in does not need end panels to hide the sides of the refrigerator. Counter-depth and standard-depth do need the end panels. And don't forget a 24" deep cabinet over the refrigerator (I can't tell for certain from the drawing if it's 24" deep, so I thought I'd mention it!)...See MoreLarge living room layout about 20x20
Comments (5)Since the room is so large, I'd make it into two separate seating areas-one for the fireplace area and another for t.v. watching. I would put the t.v. where the love seat is and place the sofa across from it. Then add another chair or two with an area rug to ground the space. In front of the fireplace, place two chairs facing the fireplace with a small table in between them. If you add ottomans, you'll have a cozy, private space to enjoy the fire. Then add new curtains as suggested. If they're lined, they'll look a lot better. You can get shades as suggested for the skylights....See MoreLarge Wall Decor Suggestions
Comments (8)JudyG Designs - Unfortunately the room is Not large enough to have the chaise part of the sectional along the wall. (Wanted the same layout but doing so puts the couch almost touching our wood burning fireplace - yikes!) I will definitely check out Etsy (love them)! I did not know I some vendors would suggest a grouping if I provided a photo - that is great! Thank you again :-)...See MoreWhat style large window/s do you suggest for kitchen? What brand?
Comments (45)Where is the best place to get windows from? A window store or a supply store? The window shop I checked out this weekend carries Andersen, Sunrise and Simonton (among others). The supply store carries Andersen and Simonton (among others). Someone please educate me on the best way to go about getting the best price for a good window. The contractor doing all of the work on the house will be installing the windows. We're looking for 2 new install double - double hung windows and a large picture window flanked with double hung windows. Down the road we will be replacing the rest of the windows in the house (15 total). For the most part, I like the look of the Sunrise and have read they are a better window over Simonton. Andersen looks nice too but I wonder if their prices are inflated because of the name/popularity. We had Simonton 5500 series in our old house and I thought they were fine. Is there a Simonton series that is worth looking into? When it comes to Sunrise and Andersen, are they comparable - quality and price? fwiw, we live near a jet noise - recommendations for windows that will help with sound dampening is appreciated....See Morechloebud
