What Cable Speed for Streaming?

Time to play games with Comcast again. Our 2-year contract is up, and they've automatically raised our monthly rate from $140 to $180.

We have internet and TV: Two TVs, an HD-DVR, and a modem/router (leased). We watch channels only provided through the "Preferred' level. We currently have 150 Mbps and "Blast! + Preferred" service.

We record current Masterpiece Theater programs to watch later. We stream from Amazon Prime. Internet is casual/low usage. We aren't supporting multiple games, whatever, just one computer; two TVs.

Do we *need* 150 Mbps or "Blast!"? What is the lowest Mbps speed that will stream smoothly?

Also, our TVs are plain-jane technology, both probably 10 years old. Do newer ones need faster/stronger input?

We are happy with the Xfinity service, but want to spend less.

(I'm posting here because there's so little activity on the Electronics forum.)
