Oak is an appropriate choice. I’m doing a MCM kitchen where she chose sapele, because it looks a lot like the mahogany that was used a lot in the era. That is in the final selections stage. Heres an original MCM oak kitchen that they updated to a dark cherry. I love bed the originals! I think a classic quarter sawn cherry could work as well. They preferred the dark. Here's one I designed using the cherry, to match the original cherry buffet that was still in the dining room. The kitchen had been ruined by a fire, and someone painting cheap flat white paint all over everything. Yes, that's a 14 foot island taking over the breakfast area too. And, for something completely different. I'm doing a project where vintage metal cabinets are being sandblasted and powder coated turquoise. Color matching range. White Corian counters, checkerboard floors. And the original wood trim, and a new wood ceiling to match. That might be more vintage to you than MCM, but it's still a good look.

Real farmhouses in the 50s and 60s had mid-century modern elements. Houses in the country in the 50s and 60s had mid-century modern elements. But..neither the farmhouse and country elements of those homes nor the mid-century modern elements of those home were, as Live_Wire pithily put it, the Disney theme versions of those design trends. If you don't go over-the-top with "farmhouse" or "country", I think it can all work together well. But when you are working without a net (an inspiration pic, in this case, of the elements you want to combine), a mood board, or even better, a real mock-up, is your friend. Putting all the elements together on paper, or on computer screen will let you see how everything works together and give you a chance to course correct.

I think a lot will depend on the stain you choose for the floor. Do you have any examples of what you're aiming for with the floor? I have a midcentury home and spent a ton of time researching flooring because we just replaced the original wall-to-wall carpet and changed the flooring in our kitchen. Grayed out wood flooring is very popular right now, and is going to look very out of place in a midcentury modern home if you're trying to stay true to the style. My personal feeling is that 'in' colors for stain come and go, but natural wood is natural wood - harder for that to be dated! I also didn't come across too many (any?) original midcentury kitchens with wood flooring. There are plenty of midcentury modern-style kitchens being done with wood floors now, but it doesn't seem to have been a common kitchen floor material then. (Not sure how closely you are trying to stick to a midcentury modern style, and if you want a time capsule look or a current version of mcm style!) I certainly think that mixing woods works. We went with unstained white oak floors, and I have lots of teak and walnut furniture and I think it works!
