Russian 117, is a red double flat heart, so that's out Caspian Pink Beefsteak , there have to be at least several hundred vartieties that are similar to this one, Black Krim Beefsteak , no ridges, smooth, a black variety, never gets as large as you say Polish Giant ,lots of varieties that look like this one Sandul Moldovan , nope, smaller and pink Maslov's Giant Beefsteak , again nothing specific about this one either Sad to say for your search, but there are over 12,000 heirloom varieties known and maybe 4 to 5,000 available commercially and thru SSE/ And as far as Russian varieties go, there have to be several hundred you could have listed as possible candidates. So often folks are looking for a specific variety that matches what they've remembered, but unless a variety comes with a name already attached to it it's really impossible to match up something once known with another variety. Dave, just to let you know, that we did drive to Florida Colors, and I got to meet Carol and her husband. They are the nicest people you could meet. I bought my plumerias from her and had them shipped home. They are starting to bloom right now. Siam Red and Gladys O'Neal are blooming, and the others will bloom very shortly. I went to the Corpus Christi Botantical Gardens, they have plumeria trees that outline the gardens. It was just breathtaking. The ones with the best blooms, I had ordered from Florida Colors, I am so excited. I just took Carols suggestings and went with them. She is the best! Barbra

Grammyp, not only did you answer my question about the quilt pattern, the video had a great option of curving the middle to the inside. I was so excited after seeing the video, three year old and I went to the cloth store early this morning to select materials. We have already started. Years ago I made them and just left the middle part straight, but I love the curved look. Saw another video and it was showing how you could add another block in the center and make a faux cathedral block. What I plan to do is make this quilt with the colors we selected, and on the next one using her clothes that she has outgrown for the quilting materials. Made a quilt years ago for her mother using her clothes when she was small. I plead old age when it comes to posting pictures, So very thankful for your help in finding the pattern and so helpful watching the video. So after all these years, thinking I was over quilting, starting again right where I left off.
