Comments (13)It's a 2009 model year. The serial number is coded for the year and week of manufacture. The only way you're going to get at the residue is disassemble. Disconnect the power cord. Press a putty knife or other thin blade into the seam between the top deck and front panel at about 4-1/2" to 6-1/2" from both corners to release the latches while pulling upward on the top. There's a positioning block nearer the corners so don't confuse it for the spring latches. May have to probe in the seam to find the latches. Some water may spill from the dispensers when the top is raised, maybe place small cloths into the dispensers to absorb it. Have a helper hold the top up. Remove the recirculation hose from the tub cover (should be at the left/rear). Find and release the several latches that secure the tub cover to the tub. Press down on the tub cover at each latch to help release it. You can then clean the underside of the tub cover and as far down as you can reach around the inner drum. Be careful of sharp tabs on the outside of the inner drum at the perforations....See MoreNew 2018 Speed Queen washing machine?
Comments (72)The Kenmore had a bad bearing..about $400 but the store had it hauled off..bummer. I am getting another Speed Queen ...a model TR5000 with water levels you can set..They hadn't informed me of the auto setting with rinses being cold water. I have my water heater set pretty hi. I WILL get this washer to do what I want..not what it wants..Cancel the wash and reset so I can get it to agitate several times..some fiddling cancels the warranty..but since the machine is supposed to last 20 years..maybe a chance I will take. I can handle machines and can do major repairs though as I said I've done plenty this life time..I'm 68. It is pretty pathetic that machines are no longer made to suit our needs. And that our government has become like a helicopter parent..Some idiot blows it and the rest of us suffer. Front loaders are more dangerous than top loaders anyhow. Most of the accidents I found were do to parents not watching their kids. One was where a washer fell on a kid?? WTF how the hell does that happen? Or parents set a baby in a carrier on top of the washer and the kid fell off. And don't get me started on refrigerators ok then flat screen tv's..seems not much is made to last anymore..try finding towels or sheets that last 20 years anymore..just a crabby old woman complaining about how it used to be!! hahaha...See MoreIs the Whirlpool washing machine's "drying mode" any good?
Comments (7)I'm interested in this model too. This is best suited for situations where it's a half load or less and started before going to bed and waking up to clean, dry clothes. I don't believe it's intended for a all-in-washer dryer for every load. If that's what you are seeking, there's the 2.8 cu. ft. all-in-one combo and there's also a new model that's in the 4.5 cu. ft. size that's also a all-in-one that I've seen on AJ Madison's web site but isn't on WP's web site. It's basically a condenser dryer. I believe moisture is sent down the drain....See MoreA parts still available for very old washing machines?
Comments (38)Your KitchenAid is a Whirlpool direct-drive machine. The design was produced from early 1980s until approx 2010 under brand names Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Estate, Inglis ... and Maytag, Admiral, and Amana after 2006 (when Whirlpool bought Maytag). Also Crosley at some point. The motor can be put under excess load if the coupler isn't installed correctly (each half of the coupler must be pressed on flush with the end of the motor shaft and transmission shaft). I suppose there's a possibility your servicer didn't do it quite right. Other than that, examination of the machine would be necessary to determine what may be the cause of the burning odor. Could be there's a loose connection on a wire to the motor or some other issue. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the servicer "sabotaged" something in response to your comeback about finding the transmission at a cheaper price online, in regards to their overall attitude at the situation. The transmission holds 16 oz. of oil so a few drops or even up to an ounce or two missing is of no large concern. Whirlpool Transmission Part # 3360629 Whirlpool Transmission Internal Parts PartSelect - Replacing Whirlpool Transmission 3360629 Be aware if you search for more videos that there's a newer washer design known as VMW that also has a transmission but it's not the same as yours....See More- 4 years ago
