I would do the shutters in the same color as the flooring on the porch, to create a nice visual connection and flow. As for the door, I would think something in a really rich, deep golden yellow would be stunning, and would make the door really stand out to visitors. Something along the lines of SW6677 Goldenrod.

Gk5040 - Cute kids! Thanks for posting that pic. I really like the color of the door. That's actually more of the color of my roof. It's not a black black. I tried to find a picture online last night to better represent the color but it their website was giving me fits. It's Tamko the heritage series. Color is Black Walnut. At this point I'm leaning more towards the SW color I believe. I could probably handle a pop of color but think I'm going to have a harder time convincing DH. I know he'll say it "doesn't match." Which is the point but he's a boy.

I like the first photo better with the lighter green, but it is difficult to decide, because the exposure on the first photo is different, or it was a sunnier day. Note that the trees are a lighter color in the first photo. And the flowers along the pathway from the first photo are missing in the second photo. The combination of the two things makes the second house look forbidding somehow. If one were to show the two photos to people and ask, "Which house looks more welcoming,", I think people would say the first. I like the shutters, they seem to go with the portico, and the shutters should be the same color as the roof, the way your eyebrows should go with your hair.

What about a bright periwinkle to play off the hydrangea? I think a buttery yellow might also look nice.
