What is this and how do I fix it ?

So recently we had extremely high winds which blew something off the my house. I'd get someone to get it fixed, only issue is I don't even know what the heck this thing is called. It's a long strip of aluminium-ish panels that runs across the top of my garage door, and some of those got blown off., exposing the three openings you see in the picture attached.

What motivated me to try to get it fixed is that I saw some sort of creature hanging out inside those vents/openings today. I have a feeling someone is setting up a honeymoon shack inside these vents. Haven't told my wife yet, but I'm hoping to get some responses soon so I can get this taken care of before this creature fulfills his American dream inside whatever-it-is-those-openings-lead-too and my wife finds out.

Can someone tell me what this is and what are the professionals who fix this called ?

Soffit vents?

They are called metal soffit coverings. They cover your old soffits and some are solid ribbed metal, and some are perforated metal. The perforated metal lets the soffit holes in your eves take in air flow. They are on a rail, and most generally, you can snap them back in place. Is yours damaged? If not, you just need to go back up and snap it back in. If you saw a critter in there, most likely, it has already taken up residence, and you may want to call an exterminator, before it eats your wiring, and anything else it finds up there. The open vents were one time covered with a vent cover, and then someone decided they didnt want to bother with the painting etc, so they covered over it all. I have the same thing here. They do come in different widths, if you need to replace, rather than snap back in.

Howdy. What you have there is an epiphyllum, not sure which type, hard to tell until it flowers. There are many people here with more expertise on this subject but here's what I know... These plants don't stand up straight, they hang. Consider elevating it. In habitat, they grow in the crotches of trees where leaves have built up. They are not desert plants and don't take the same type of treatment as other cacti and succulents which may grow in deserts or rocky hillsides. They do well hanging or sitting under trees with filtered or limited sunlight. There's lots of info for you to find with the Google. Good luck!

spongy is bad... sounds like fungus. How were you watering this palm? Any watering of the crown/bud area where the new leaves come out? That is sometimes a problem for kentias. If soil was very well draining, this would be a hard palm to over water... though it is not that easy to underwater, either (pretty tolerant palms, normally). I would at least treat the bud with antifungal.. try pulling gently but firmly on the newest spears/early leaves... do they pull out of the palm? If so, that is bud rot. Pour antifungal down that hole and hope for the best. Any photos?

Sunburn. Those damaged leaves must be too close to the window where they exposed to direct sunlight. White, brown, yellow.. same, only differ on light intensity exposure.

This was also in our case...the water leak was a very small one and we didn't actually noticed it until we saw the damage on the cabinets. I would have preferred a bigger water damage so I would have seen it before and possibly prevented the damage on the cabinets. Sometimes small water leaks are worse :)
