I see two tall Juniper looking things. It seems like you just need a hedge of those and the house behind would be screened. But where is your planting room? It doesn't look like you have it (first picture). And some palms are in the way of continuing a hedge. (If there is space to plant, we can't see it.)

Loquat would work, but seems a bit big and bulky for screening in the last picture. I'd pick size-controlled crape myrtle or regular schefflera over it. There's Vitex, and tree form pittosporum, too.

Thank you for your feedback! Yes, there is very limited planting space due to the palms that are there, and that whole area behind the patio, including behind the fireplace, is pretty narrow- just a few feet. I was wondering if maybe a hedge form of something, perhaps pittosporum, could work along the fence? And I was avoiding crape myrtle bc I thought it was deciduous but I see there is an evergreen wax myrtle that might work! And the umbrella tree is really beautiful, but the height (30-40) is a bit intimidating. (The juniper looking trees are Italian cypresses, and the expected height does worry me a bit about planting more.)

I wouldn't plant any more Italian cypress. You need the equivalent, fully grown, of its size right now. Pittosporum would need to be trimmed regularly to keep its width/thickness in check. That's possible ... but is another maintenance chore. Wax myrtle is bushy (wide) & suckering.

Schefflera is easy to trim periodically to keep to a lower size, but the occasional freeze usually nixes the height. I never see them east of Tampa more than about 15 or so feet height.
