Attaching blackout lining to bamboo roman blinds
Comments (6)We've had the bamboo roman shades up for almost five years. A home was just built on the lot next to us so I felt that my teenage soon needed something more private. I cut a piece of drapery liner to fit the back of the shade and attached it at the top by hand sewing to the brown thread on the back of the blind that holds the slats together. I untied the cord from the rings, pulled the cord out (of just the rings) cut a small slit to fit the liner over the rings and then threaded the cord back through. I then attached the liner at the bottom of the blind by again hand sewing it to the thread that holds the slats. When raising or lowering the blinds you cannot tell they weren't made with the liner in place, meaning the liner and roman shade fold together. Like nanabella, I feel I lost the look of the woven blinds when the liner was added but his room is darker and more private now....See MoreHow to reduce weight of heavy blackout lining?
Comments (4)You could you use the shower curtain type of lining and it will not bunch up enough to notice it. You can buy this type of lining for drapes. Try your sears cat. It will not block out the light like black out lining. yes they do hook on to the drapery hook and no they are not stitched together. If you are concerned with the weight why not try sheers under them? (on a seperate rod) Bonnie...See MoreDouble / dual roller shades with solar and blackout shades
Comments (4)This is what I did. We installed room darkening shades inside the window depth. Then, over them, we installed Duette linen pull up blinds. I also added drapes. In the evening I raise the Duettes and pull down the darkening shades, then the Duettes and it's pitch black in the room. I can't stand any light showing. I even taped the light on the phone and tv. This was ten years ago and still holding up like they were installed yesterday....See MoreRoman blinds overmounted on window frame that has mini blinds?
Comments (3)What you’re trying to achieve will end up incorporating 3 different types of treatments when all said and done. Simplify- maybe consider doing something like plantation shutters on the windows which would give you tilt options for day and night and give you a nice finished window look. :)...See MoreRelated Professionals
