Creative solution in an MCM kitchen

This Albuquerque MCM kitchen was on For the Love of Old Houses facebook page today. It's been redone. It's on a slab, so the ductwork probably couldn't be readily moved, so how do you accommodate the vents? Raise the peninsulas' base cabinets, of course. Lets the air flow among the spaces better. Bonus, the oven is raised to a comfortable height. (I probably would have gone with a smaller, induction cooktop; the burners intruding into the corner would bother me, not appearance-wise (well, yes, a bit) but more function-wise)

While I don't like sliding door cabinets, they work well here, and serve as a good divider on the dining-side peninsula.
