Need urgent help with mosaic bathroom tile
Comments (7)I went into a state of panic regarding the Islatile. This morning I drove over to a store where I bought the subway tile and spoke to Bill who is one of the owners and a great guy willing to give information. He loved the floor (even though I bought it at Cancos) and thought it would love great. He said Isla was a good name and made a quality product. I am going with a biscuit color grout on the subways and as blondelle said it would look mostly like texture and not conflict with the floor. I am leaning toward a medium taupe grout to pick up the color of the one inch square. I thought I read on the forum that the grout on the mosaic would help with a glossy finish. I am having the bathroom gutted and am going with the Kohler Memoirs "Stately" pedestal sink (24"), toilet and bathtub....See MoreUrgent floor tile layout help needed
Comments (3)For the bathroom, lay them from the door to opposite the door, just as one would walk in (in a typical bathroom where you enter at one end). If you enter in the middle or have an odd layout, I'd have them go the same direction as the vanity counter runs. For the kitchen, I'd go the same direction as the cabs and the counters. Across would feel choppy....See Moreneed urgent advice about water heater and water tank purchase

Comments (9)I don't think it is a problem. I think your eye travels into the room more readily than to the threshold. That being said, I know nothing about slate (except that I like it, especially w/ your brick), but 1+ inches seems like a decent size piece of tile. Is the concern because it is on the edge of the stairs? If it really bothers you, could you shift farther right, not centering three tiles, but increasing the visible piece presently at the left of your doorway to show a bit more? Could that eliminate your "finger"? Again, I really don't think it is a problem....See MoreJulia Hudson
