Help with my Dutch Colonial Revival
Comments (5)Ok- Here are some color combos I came up with. I am trying to avoid white...too plain for me. I would like some honesty here please. If you think any look awful, please tell me. I will not be offended. Keep in mind we plan on adding a brick porch in the front with covered roof like in the link below. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n196/eaglesgal/yellow.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n196/eaglesgal/lightgray.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n196/eaglesgal/darkgrayblue.jpg Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreHow about an exterior color scheme for an 1898 Colonial Revival?
Comments (3)I was thinking blue as well, with a blue/gray deeper trim on the sashes and maybe highlight with either white or a rich plum. Your home is stately and needs to be strong (color wise) verses going too soft...I'm with your son on the all gray color scheme LOL but I do think a soft blue with deep gray would be gorgeous. This little cottage is what I'm thinking as a highlight color...it's plum, but with enough gray to be elegant and not obnoxious purple :) Here's a light blue, dark blue and the plum color together with white accents as well: I think it would stand out and yet still fit the house style for you. just an idea :) I have (somewhere) a picture of a house like yours as well...it's done in a pretty deep gad...not yellow, more gold, with a really rich amber trim. It was my husband's grandfathers home in MN. The colors together are pretty gorgeous, but it's classy...you could really screw that up by going too dark yellow and too red in the amber, but the two done right is pretty splendid....much more stand out than the blue and gray mind you, but still really gorgeous!...See MoreAdvice needed: how to add on to a Dutch Colonial Revival?
Comments (16)kirkhall - what a brilliant idea!! talk about not being able to see the forest for the trees! the lower left room with the sunporch is our master, so it wouldn't mean any switch in that regard. and would make the two other bedrooms the same size. this is a great alternative if building over the sunroom just isn't an option. i just wish i had posted this before we renovated those two bedrooms!!!! ha ha. one question though (because i'm hesistant to lose an entire wall in the bedroom we'd be shrinking to a reach in closet). if we were to put the closets for the two upper bedrooms back to back on the exterior wall of the house, would 6'x6' be enough room for a small bathroom with a tub? i was thinking the tub could be placed along the wall with the closets, leaving a 6' x 3 1/2'-ish space for toilet and sink. is that just too small? would we have to give up both closets for those bedrooms for a total bathroom footprint of 9'x6'? the tub in our current bathroom is about 30" from back wall to apron front. Comments (29)Oh my! Is that an original TV Dinner Chair?!? How exciting to come home after an outing, knowing a wholesome, pre-made dinner of meat byproduct loaf with larded mashed potatoes, green peabeebees, and luscious chocolate sponge awaits. Piping hot from the oven in 45-minutes. Turn on and warm up the tubes, boys & girls, Moms & Dads. Settle into your stylish TV Dinner Chair. It's big enough for two...move over a little bit honey. I had a two seat, also. Very comfortable for people with short legs. You could sit back, relax, and have your feet reach the floor. No looking like EdithAnn with those in your living room. :-)...See MoreTanna M
