What diameter round mirrors above 48' vanity?
Comments (3)I read that for proper lighting of the face, sconces should be spaced 30 - 40 inches apart. Is there a lighting expert out there who can chime in?...See More1 Mirror/2 Lights or 2 Mirrors/3 Sconces
Comments (15)We currently have a 60" vanity with overhead lights. Our bathroom is 5' x 10', and I read that I need 300 watts of light for that size bathroom. I'm sold on sconces for our remodel because of our aging eyesight. We'll have two sconces with one sink. I've looked at all kinds of mirror configurations, but what makes the most sense is to set the sconces into a large mirror so that the light is bounced around the room. Did you say in another post that your ceiling is only 7 1/2' tall? I'm not sure a chandelier would look so good. I think they're better in powder rooms and in spacious bathrooms. Instead, I would use an exhaust fan/light combination to put light and ventilation over the toilet and shower area. I wouldn't count on the vanity lights, door, and a decorative chandy to supply enough light for the other side of the room. You need light for cleaning the toilet and shower and if anyone reads while on the can....See MoreLight Fixture with Round Vanity Mirror
Comments (0)I would like to use a round mirror over a 48" wall hung vanity that abuts against a side wall which has a recessed medicine cabinet in it. I don't want to use sconces on either side of the mirror because there will be a wall mounted magnifying mirror on one side of the mirror. I am considering two types of mirrors: a round 36" or 40" LED mirror, or a plain beveled mirror. If I use the plain beveled mirror, what size and type of overhead light fixture would I look for, curved or linear? I have stainless steel trim and 8' ceilings....See MoreType of Mirror behind a 48" vanity
Comments (20)I just made a whopper of a mistake by hanging a 24"x30" mirror vertically over a 48" vanity. It's already been switched to horizontal! (For a price, heh.) I suggest cutting out shapes and sizes and playing with placement when the vanity is in place. Or do it on graph paper if you like all the arithmetic involved. I just checked our mirror, 30" probably isn't wide enough for the peeps standing off center, but 36" would be. Also seconding the rectangular mirror with rounded corners. Ours looks great. I love the way it looks. As for black or wood, I would probably choose a natural-finish wood for the warmth and variety, BUT ... One of the "rules" when mixing finishes is don't use any finish only once in a space. Is there another place to use wood? Maybe floating shelves over the toilet? Or a wooden box on the top of the toilet tank? All the best! This is a fun thing to do, but really, all these decisions can be stressful. I am finally down to choosing artwork. Yay!...See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
