4" backsplash behind vanity
Comments (31)Thank you, Linelle! If you click on the picture it should take you to more views. After living with a terribly old and ugly bathroom with water damaged walls for many years, it was really nice to finally finish this room (although we still need to trim around the window and door). Everyone on this board was really helpful when I was planning the remodel. The granite is white river, sinks are Kohler Archer, cabinet hardware and toilet roll holder are RH Chatham, hooks and train rack are RH Vintage, arched hand towel bars are Ginger, lights and mirrors are PB, floors are filled and polished travertine, and the glass/travertine detail tiles in the shower are from Home Depot. I think the sink and shower fixtures are Moen. One thing I really love is the hidden medicine cabinet that looks like a framed picture. This is what we started with, right before we gutted it down to the studs: This post was edited by juddgirl2 on Sun, Mar 9, 14 at 3:53...See MoreMirror Proportion/Type for 48" Vanity
Comments (3)Are you using side sconces or overhead lights? Is the vanity in an alcove? I would only use a mirror centered over the sink if you're using sconces. Just about anything goes in that case. My favorite look for a full-width mirror over a longer vanity is a narrow one that's raised a few inches above the backsplash. This could be used with either overhead lighting or sconces mounted to the mirror. Your glass company would cut holes for mounting....See MoreRemodel- will 48" vanity work? What about the old medicine cabinet
Comments (12)Are you replacing the floor tile completely? If not, you may have a problem. The current tile may end at the vanity edge. With the new mirror, be sure to use only water - no glass cleaner - to clean it. I know that with mine, using glass cleaner will void the warranty. Cleaners wicking up behind the glass is said to be the cause of the loss of silvering you see on the edges of mirrors. A spritz of water and a microfiber cloth does the trick. With so many designers insisting that you should not put two sinks in a 60" vanity, there must be more than a few to see. Just for grins, check out Wayfair, where you can do a search for a vanity that size, then specify one sink. See what is out there to buy online if you have not looked already. Once you have seen them, you can look for local distributors of that line if you do not like to purchase such large items online....See MoreWainscotting in powder room: behind built-in vanity?
Comments (27)@Jan Moyer, thanks for the etemology lesson! Closet size room: check. No window: check. Powder for my wig ... it’s here somewhere.... Re: the fan: do you have a preference on location (over the toilet?) and brand/size/capacity? I’m guessing I’ll need an overhead (canned) light, in addition to sconces. With the sun tube that ceiling may feel cluttered. Is that as issue? i already bought the sun tube and I like natural light. Should I still use it here (seems like a good idea to me) or move to that hallway or ? @J OBrien thanks for your comments. Since you‘ve lived with this size room, is there anything you did that was a great idea or that you wish you’d done differently? @Ephma thanks for sharing! I love your home and that powder and laundry room too.(yes get the wine fridge lol) Great wallpaper. How wide is your powder room and your sink? (I’m back to considering a 24“ vanity so I have some modicum of storage). Thanks for the suggestion on the board and batten. Last night I googled, for the first time, the diff styles of wainscoting. Many! Which do you think is less formal? I live in a beach town and want this room to feel fun.geez, just what I need, another decision! thanks everyone! I really appreciate your help!!!!...See MoreLyn Nielson
