Removing hutch from antique buffet. Questions!

Kelly Caruso

Hello, This is listed in my area for sale and the bottom portion is exactly what I've been looking for as a media stand. Ive already contacted an antique dealer and they explained that the front column legs are pegged in and, once removed, the top portion would leave about 4 holes towards the back

. Didn't know how bad this will look once removed or how difficult of a job this would be. Has anyone done something similar to this before? I don't want to pay a bunch of money to only use the bottom piece and then that itself looks like a mess when its all said and done.

Would this be a simple job of filling in holes and trying to match the stain? Thank you in advance for your help!
