Do nothing day. Went on a ladie's group outing yesterday for a Mother's Day buffet followed by a play, Guess Who's Coming To Dinner. Took a tour bus and traveled for 3 hours each way, just because. It's an annual mystery tour. Too loud, tiring, but always fun.

14 of us at a brunch. Three generations of mothers. The company far out shined the buffet.

We took our MIL to a fancy high tea brunch, and it was very disappointing. $250 for the 4 of us and a total rip off.

I did enjoy spending time with her though and I am trying to stay positive!

Just me and him. Loads of texts from family. Sun and fun. I spent a lot of time watching him snorkel down the rocks (breakers at South Pointe Pier), while I floated and chased very small barracudas. Very small. Like 8-10 inch long. Big ones would've had me racing for the shore!

Went into the city to meet my oldest and her BF. Had a lovely dinner, despite the awful weather.

Dinner will likely be what ever daughter ask for. Her birthday was Tuesday and we do birthdays on Sunday at family dinner. We will be having angel food cake, with rubbarb sauce and ice cream, tho as that is what she asked for.

We went out last night to beat the crowds. Today I baked a spiral honey ham with rice and gravy. Just the 2 of us. Lots of leftover ham and a meaty ham bone for beans later. For a sad day we enjoyed our meal together.

DH picked up Chinese at a favorite restaurant and brought it home. We went out once many, many years ago when the kids were small.....the worse meal of my life and vowed never again. Enjoyed the Chinese food.

Went to church to start the day. Came home and cleaned up my sewing mess. I made aprons for each of the moms at church.. Then I went to our son’s home to spend time with them and give the DIL her Mother's Day money. Then I met my hubby at our youngest daughter’s for dinner. Oldest daughter came Friday and helped me in my flowerbeds and yard. Busy but wonderful few days for all of us..

I cooked brunch for my mom, my kids and their spouses. Worked for two days to prep/cook, but it's always worth it. Much more relaxing than going out to a crowded, noisy restaurant. I got lovely flowers from the kids and cards from the cats and dog. They always pick out the best cards lol.

We drove to my mothers assisted living facility (140 miles), picked her up and met my brother and his children for lunch. His wife had flown to CA to surprise her own mother....92 yrs like mine.

we went out to a buffet and were totally disappointed. Last year we had gone there and it was so good. It had mashed potatoes and gravy, biscuits and gravy, 3 kinds of pasta dishes, chicken that was black in some places and tough, roast beef that was cold and tough, tator tots, and a couple of other things. There was also dinner rolls that were not warm and had not raised enough. There were a few shrimp laying in with the tator tots and my DH took them. The salad bar wasn't much, but I said it was the best part of the meal. O and they had chili for soup. For dessert they had all kinds of boughten fruit pies and a strawberry cake with white frosting, a cookies and cream pie and a apple cobbler kind of thing. It cost 31 dollars for the 2 of us. I didn't think the price was bad. When we got there the mashed potato spot was empty because someone had already told her the potatoes were cold. and she took them in the back and nu them I'm sure and only brought a smaller amount out until they got busy we went at 11;30 and it had started at 10;30.

I have memories as a kid, going out for Mother's Day one year and how rushed and ripped off we all felt with the "special" menu and overall crowds. I think after that particular year, we made a point to NOT go out for Mother's Day. When I was the mom with kids, I always had my DH barbecue and had our Moms over as well. Now they are gone. When DD married, we had her and her in MIL over. Now that DD is a mom of 2, we went to her yesterday. She was going to barbecue as well but the weather here in Pa was torrential non stop rain (today too it seems) so actually brought in pizza for all.

Some years we would go out a different day for Mother's Day, but always had everyone at the house for the actual day.

I had a perfect day

We traveled to my sons place a bit away and enjoyed a fantastic dinner-I rec'd a gorgeous begonia-now to find the perfect place for it!

It was a gloomy rainy day here for us. We stayed in and stayed dry. We had cabbage rolls for our meal. Our daughter called and I had a nice phone visit with her. I spent the day crafting.

Just to update my earlier post. son inlaw cooked one of my meals (That I love) so we had ham for dinner.

Spent the day at work. 12 hour shift. Alex actually realized it was mother's day. He hardly ever thinks of it or my birthday. I think it's just a guy thing? Never bothered me. This year he sent me a stirring thing...stirs for you when you are cooking. I don't know if I'm ever going to use it. No note with it, wouldn't have known it was from him if Lauren hadn't told me he was sending me something. lol. Lauren is coming this evening with food, either to make me here at my house or bringing take out...she said either or. We were supposed to plant my garden today but it looks like it's going to rain. I may go out anyway and get my tomatoes in the ground. I've been sick for a month....turned in to bronchitis and then fell and injured my good ankle. It's finally better so I can get around now and do some yard work, if only the weather would cooperate.

We drove up to older son's over an hour away for cocktails and cheeses and crackers before they went out to celebrate her first Mother's Day and his 43rd birthday. Most of the evening was spent rocking our newest grandson, sleeping in my arms. We had stopped by MacDonald's for a quarter pounder on the way up, and then shared birthday cake when our new parents returned from a lovely steak dinner out. It was a nice Mother's Day for me being with our little one and his parents.

We ate out at our favorite Greek restaurant. I got the ribs Greek style with rice pilaf and mixed veggies in fresh chunky tomato sauce and roasted potato quarters.

Earlier that day we picked up a Olallie berry pie at Gizdich ranch. You can buy pie by the slice or whole pie. We got the whole pie. It is a pick it yourself farm. Right now it is fresh strawberries. But they have fresh baked pies from frozen berries all year long. The line was out the door and around the building for Mothers Day. They are worth the wait.

In the morning we went to Denny's and had a lovely breakfast with my sister, our son, DD and SIL. DD brought me some lovely flowers.

In the evening we were cooked a lovely fish dinner by my husband's sister and her DH at the cabin they rent when they come into town. Also their two sons were there. It was a big celebration since one of their sons was missing for a while.

(They are in town for 2 months and so will get to spend time with him. It seems he sorted out some of his issues.)

Kathsgarden--I'm sorry you've had such a tough time! Hopefully you're well on the mend.

DD took me to brunch at the restaurant in her hotel (she is the COO of the brand company). We celebrated Mother's Day and her birthday the day before. DGS had to work and her DH hates going out to brunch - puts him in a food coma. We would never have gone out to anywhere but her own restaurant as the food is often not very good, service rushed and food often not very good at all. But ours was outstanding in every way! I had never had Eggs Benedict done on a biscuit before, but believe me, that's the way to go! No tough English muffin that is so hard to cut, one risks ending up with it in ones lap. Delicious!

After DGS2 got off work, her family came over the homemade angel food cake with whipped cream and raspberries. So we did celebrate her birthday separately. She's always hated that her birthday and Mother's Day are often close together - occasionally even the same day.

DS and his children (and the cat!) sent me some really lovely flowers - very unusual bouquet. DD also brought me a single gardenia, floating in what looked like an over-sized saucer champagne glass. Perfumes my library - just heavenly!

It was a chilly, rainy afternoon. My two dogs gave me a wonderful Mother's Day present of a nap on my lap while I dozed as well.

We love Gizdich pies. We often go there late summer to pick apples and pick up a pie. No berry pie eaters in the family (they're a bit too sweet) but the Dutch apple pie is a favorite.

With so many graduations going on, I celebrated three different days with each of my three children. But on the actual day, my grandsons made me just what I wanted... a big fat grilled burger with carmalized onions.,. Not something I eat often, but it was fantastic ..,
