What's the best on-line resource ?
Comments (3)I've bought a few plants from Hydrangea Select and they are the best plants in my garden. Super healthy, overwintered with no care and no problems with disease. They are local to me, so that also may have something to do with it. For example, living in the northeast, I would not order a hydrangea from a dealer in the south because I would be concerned about whether or not it would winter over easily. Anyway, i'm including a link. Here is a link that might be useful: Hydrangea Select...See Morewhat books have been your resource during the first year?
Comments (2)What to Expect the First Year, and What to Expect, the Toddler years were both used a lot in my house. The quick reference guide in the back was great when DD was sick or if she fell, or like the time she touched the stove and got a burn. Lots of good ideas, as well as a lot of good quick reference items when it's midnight and something comes up....See MoreUsing local resources... do you?
Comments (7)We try to use local businesses, but I have some regrets about doing so. There are a number of things that I did not do in this house because 1) no local service would have been available; 2) no local vendor could track it down; 3) no local craftsperson was willing to try this new thing; 4) I was already pushing the local envelope of what some folks were willing to try. I ended up using internet vendors for many things, but local for the major building supplies and for all the contracting/subtracting. Every now and then I kick myself for not insisting on bringing in some non-local people with experience in other ways of doing things. Then I remind myself that I can be quite OCD and that I love my house, so I shouldn't focus on this stuff. OTOH, some of the local crews were fantastic! The framers were practically finish carpenters, the framing was exquisite. The finish carpenters did magnificent work. The stonemasons were millionth-generation artisans. The roofers did a great job. And talk about local--I had to cut down three trees (I was devastated as the footprint of the house was designed specifically so that we would preserve all the trees); the trees became our ceiling beams, which are structural, not just decorative....See MoreHow Early To Book A Domestic Flight?
Comments (25)A lot of schools have Dec commencement in addition to the traditional May one. Cornell, Penn, U of Michigan, USC, Purdue all do - sure there are many more. Some graduate then, having done Jan admittance, some due to having a huge number of AP credits. My grandson has 27 hrs of college credits from his AP’s, 8 of which count toward his major in the College of Engineering. Many of his classmates entering our local university will enter with full Sophomore standing, and enter med school after 3 years. Saves a ton of money. And with tuition prices these days, that’s huge....See Moremtnrdredux_gw
