poa annua - What if anything should I do now?
Comments (4)Don't know much about Seattle, but in my yard poa can germinate from Mar thru Oct with exception of a few really hot months. Poa is very hard to get rid of, especially if your neightbors have it too and they are doing nothing. I've been fighting it for about 6 years now, and still have it. You can spot treat it with RU, but then you'll have weeds where it once was...unless you have a spreading grass. The prime time for poa germination is generally from August through October, but it will germinate at other times also. A good pre-m will keep the poa seeds from germinating, but if you do any fall seeding you have to make a decision to either seed or fight poa. Not sure how good Tupersan is at keeping poa from germinating, but I know it's expensive and only lasts about 4 weeks, but you can usually seed and use that at the same time. Your choice. I've been choosing to seed in the fall in hopes of choking it out, but that doesn't entirely work. I have a pretty good stand of grass now, so I just may pour the pre-m to it in the fall instead of seeding....See Moreorchid ID, and should I do anything about these roots?
Comments (6)I don't know if this is of any help, but I sterilize all my clippers in a can or jar of alcohol, between each cut... I keep a large open-mouth jar full of alcohol, in a pail, with my clippers, and dip the clippers between each cut...and put the cover back on the jar of alcohol when I'm done.... I have a large rose-bed and learned to do this the hard way--- several years ago I would just do my pruning with the same clippers, no sterilizing-- until I was hit with canker and it spread like wild-fire, it is spread by cutting, wounds to the cane, cross-canes that scrape each other--etc.also the weather contributes, cool and rainy and overcast... and I lost a lot of my roses--- it was just the straw so to speak that woke me up to my carelessness, an expensive lesson! So now I keep a pail for the roses, and another pail for the orchids, both with the jar of alcohol and their own clippers... and have not had any problems since.... works for me, LOL, sally...See MoreShould I be doing anything for these plants
Comments (2)First, pry off the glued rocks. If need be, soak them to loosen up. Re-pot, using well -draining soil mix. Give them lots of sun (acclimate if they're not already used to sun) & water when dry. Good luck!...See MoreShould I do anything for this blueberry bush or throw it out?
Comments (8)I'm worried because the last time I saw this (on the one that died), the berries ended up all shriveled and the stems also began to brown and shrivel/curl. I've seen pictures of various blueberry diseases where the flowers turn brown and the blueberry part and stem itself shrivels. And I'm not seeing this at all on the "healthier" plant...To clarify, the second pictures are of the Sunshine Blue bush which is totally fine. In the fall, the leaves had become reddish around the outer parts of each leaf and spread inward toward the center of the leaf. I later began to notice little green/black dots on the surface of the leaves (not w/in the leaf) that looked like spores. I then decided to pull off all the leaves and figured the plant was dying...But it came back....See MoreRelated Professionals
