Comments (35)Gooooooooooooood Halloween day to all! I've been up since early and on the go. Our community center had their first ever "Boo Bash" fun-/fundraiser today, and it was a howling success! As the ways & means chairman, I was delighted with the turnout of people and kids dressed up in costumes and spending lots of time and money enjoying themselves! :0 I did a lot of fun Christmas shopping there for those little fun items that are 'extras' that nobody asks for or expects, but that always find a home happily. I also bought a couple of hand-painted items to continue decorating our house. I had a small serving of Frito pie and a diet Dr.Pepper when I finished my shift of tattooing kiddos. Donna, how nice to see you posting, but how frustrating for you with the delay. Maddie, enjoy the musical! Hope Dee's having fun on her vacation. Suzanne, hope you're enjoying your last sunny evening until next spring. Jan, I'd love a bowl of gumbo about now, TYVM! Raeanne, come back and post more - you're missed! Maddie, should we give it a little bit longer to see if anyone else would like to participate in the ornament exchange. It's so much easier to do an ornie than a whole gift box, so maybe we can get a bigger group together. I already have mine, so I can sound all organized and 'together' here! LOL I have a turkey roasting in the oven for our dinner. I decided to change up tradition from chili this year. I also needed to bake this one so that I can start taking advantage of the wonderful turkey sales starting up next week. We love turkey all year 'round. When I was growing up, the ONLY time my mom cooked a turkey was at Thanksgiving, so it still seems a little strange to me to cook one 'just because'. Wishing everyone a Happy Halloween and healthy snacking this evening!...See MoreTV Prices?
Comments (23)"If your account with Direct TV has always been in good standing, call Direct and ask for the Retention Dept. Tell them you're thinking of changing because of the price increase and see what they will offer." Warning: Directv is widely known to have some really shady business practices, which is why I had my disbute with them. Regardless of the problem, promise or agreement you make with them, they will (unwittingly to the consumer) lock you into a new 2 year contract with the slightest change you make to your account and trying to get that thing canceled is next to impossible. We moved from SoCal to Michigan in 2005 and transferred the service accordingly. Suddly, the new billings were higher and when I questioned them with CS, I was told they were correct. Several years later during a call with technical support, I found out that no the billings weren't correct and we'd been over charged every month since moving. The rep only refunded 6 months worth of credits (because I had been paying the bill??) but then offered to send an upgraded receiver at no charge to help soften the loss. I agreed to that but we hated the new receiver so much I sent it back. That's when I found out I was put in a new two year LOCKED contract in which the rep had never discussed with me! It too me 3 months and many many conversations to finally get it canceled and I haven't used them since. My advise would be that if you're experiencing cost creep and new substantial charges, Run, don't walk Run! Don't try to fix it because you'll once again be locked in and screwed if you can't afford it. When I got Dish, they had a very low minimal program option for 25.00/mo. I opted for that and with taxes, it's 27.00/mo. They don't offer that deal anymore but they still have a relatively inexpensive option available....See MoreAmazon Echo advice
Comments (31)It seems the Spot can keep the clock face lit all the time (don't have one, though). I am nearly in the same situation as you though I use a clock to show the time. I use my phone for my alarm (you can use the Dot for this). I use it to listen to the radio. Haven't yet set up talking to others in the house via other Echo devices we have. We also have a 'smart' plug and use it to turn on a table top lamp in the room. Here's the points about the Spot (a Dot with a screen): from Amazon #Echo Spot is designed to fit anywhere in your home. Use 2nd generation far-field voice recognition to watch video flash briefings, see music lyrics, weather forecasts, to-do and shopping lists, browse and listen to Audible audiobooks, and more. All hands-free—just ask. #Echo Spot connects to Alexa, a cloud-based voice service to play music, read the news, answer questions, set music alarms, control smart home, and more #Just ask to play a song, artist, or genre, and see lyrics with Amazon Music. Also, stream music and books from Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and Audible. #Use the built-in speaker or connect to speakers through Bluetooth or 3.5 mm stereo cable. With multi-room music, you can play music on your Echo devices in different rooms. #Ask Alexa to turn on your lights, show baby monitors and front door cameras, and lock your doors. Plus, control your thermostats, garage doors, sprinklers, and more. #Call almost anyone hands-free, or make video calls to family and friends with an Echo Spot, Echo Show, or the Alexa App. Instantly connect to other Echo devices around your home....See More- 7 years ago
