hi im bill my wife and i we went to lumber luquidaters and we got our flooring for $1.69 a sqft and it was a beautiful job !! we love our flooring.. it s was wonderfull product !!! My wife and i we hired a man by the name of Kenny Ray Carr to install our flooring he is a remodeler we had rec...to us from a close friend at my work he installed a metal roof for her for only $0.80c a sqft and her roof was high quality roofing and the job look so good i hired him cause she was happy.. i love Lumber Liquidators the prices are very low and the quality of there flooring is better than that of big box stores..i would buy there agian !!i had got a istamate for flooring instalation and they said is was going to be $4.25 a foot.. my wife and i we had 2,300 sqft installed so my friend she told us abou t Kenny and he gave us a price of $0.90c a sqft i could not belive it .that is less than a dollar a sq ft !!.and he did such a wonderfull job my wife had him paint 2 rooms for use and install 5 windows install our back door..he only charged us $495.00 for the rest of the work he did .. and the best thing about his work is he did all the work himself.. no sub out work to other people he was there when the work was getting done and let me tell you... my wife was soooooooooo happy it got her off my back . he was so low on his prices i would not even try it my self .. and if mamas happy then every body is happy !!!!its not woth the money i would save/// i have to much to do as it is..and if kenny will install it for that price i will let him do it agian !!. and we love his work and his HONESTY! witch is the most important thing when hiring a contractor to do work at your home !My wife and i we would tell every body this !!! That is good to know about your pavers-- lot of our lanai stays in shade from about 11 am on but still prefer the white base... Regarding the pool safety fence--just had conversation with guy who installed fence for friend of our daughter Their fence goes all around their smaller pool cause they have lot of patio space on around the pool--too hard to close part of that off... Our pool is larger than theirs and more rectangular--we can do two sides easier but might cost more cause more panels and the gate was expensive--like $400-- but for our situation I think we will need one-- I am not sure I can physically pull those two sections together to try to get fence back up---there is lot of tension in that kind of fence... But he also said that putting it in after pavers were down was not problem and that the pavers the posts were in wouldn't need to be cemented He could just use a longer aluminum sleeve and drill a little deeper than usual... He also said that black mesh/poles were the way to go that the eye will travel through black mesh much easier to see what is on the other side than white mesh...which kind of surprised me... but it is really pretty easy to see out through a pool cage's screening which is black...

I would agree with hollysprings that lighting is very important. Very Important. However, I also think it is highly personal. In our kitchen we have nine sources of light: The ceiling recessed lights (there are several of them but I am counting them as one), the pendant over the sink, the light in the vent hood, the small lamp on the counter, two floor lamps, some bounce lights on top of our big oak piece, the back door entry lights, and the schoolhouse fixture. Why so many? They serve different purposes. Many of them provide pools of light in different areas and this, plus the ability to dim almost all of them, gives my kitchen the warmness that is important to me. The recessed ceiling lights were all we had when we moved in and they weren't on dimmers. Was there enough light in the kitchen? Yes. But it was very harsh and uncomfortable to me. Some people just want LOTS of light. I want to control how much light I have and where it is. There was a recent post about whether to use dimmers. You might want to read it to better understand how YOU feel about light. I don't agree with hollysprings about the strip lighting under the cabinets. I know it is popular today but I like pools of light, and strip lighting doesn't do that. I tried mocking it up with rope lighting and I did not like the effect. There also are some things on my kitchen counter that I'd rather not light up (like my microwave). We always try to mock things up as much as we can so we can see how it will be. For lighting, we use clamp ons and whatever else we can come up with. As I said, I think it's personal. Sometimes I go into someone's house and I want sunglasses because the light is so glaringly bright. Some people come into my house and they want the dimmers turned up. You said you liked my kitchen. I bet it has a lot to do with the lights and the warmth they make. BTW, your choices indicate you ARE thinking it about how it all works together. Good job on that. I think the post you wrote on super white was one of the best I've ever read on this forum; it was so informative and thoughtful and kind. Lots of people have responded so positively to that post that I bet most of us would do anything we could for you.

I once attended a two day seminar on the care and maintenance of fiberglass at a fiberglass boat factory and I came away with a whole new respect for the product. In fact, with the exception of tile, fiberglass is my personal material of choice for a tub or shower enclosure. One of the greatest complaints about fiberglass is that the surface oxidizes and gets dull and chalky as it ages. While this is true, what they don't tell you is that it is very easy to restore the finish to its original luster by buffing it out with fiberglass rubbing compound and a cloth buffing wheel. After its buffed out you then apply a light film of fiberglass wax and buff to a high luster. (Just be very careful not to buff the floor area too much or you will create a slip hazard.) For routine maintenance I find that after you wash the enclosure down about once a month you can apply a light film of spray furniture wax such as Johnson's Pledge to maintain the bright appearance. In your case buffing will not work because you desire to change the color. In this case the marine deck paint will work fine. (Fiberglass auto body paint will work but it is not designed for foot traffic and therefore it is not quite as durable as the deck paint) Being in BC should not present a problem because nearly all boat dealers, even those who only sell small fishing boats for lakes and rivers will have the paint in stock or they can get it for you overnight. Although it is often a seasonal item, I have seen the paint in Walmart & Kmart in the sporting goods section. You can also find it in most automotive parts stores or a paint store such as a Sherwin Williams. I have personally refinished shower enclosures that were more than 20 years old.
