Comments (9)Well the small container size and the pruning - removing what you are calling 'suckers' - are whole other issues for other discussions. And there are many of them here. But yes both will contribute to your original question about fruit size. Stressed plants produce smaller fruit. The container is far too small for an indeterminate variety, especially one that gets as big as Whopper does. And removing what are actually fruit-producing lateral branches will not only reduce the amount of fruit produced by the plant but make it substantially taller. Then there is the issue of feeding. The nutrients in your potting mix are very limited and quickly lost. Container plants require regular feedings. The smaller the container the more often it has to be watered, the more it is watered the faster the nutrients wash out of the continer and more feeding it requires. So with all those issues don't expect normal size or normal levels of production. This is not to say the fruit you do get will all be small or won't be fine just that the growing conditions are far from ideal so the plant will be limited in its performance by those conditions. Comments (11)Sorry, but I am not a fan of the "idea" of low carb being the do all end all diet solution. It's a lot more complicated than that. Eating a simple carb/sugar heavy diet can mess with your metabolism via your blood sugar, no question about that. But the culprit IMHO is not fruits and vegetables (unless you eat the sugary, starchy ones in excess) because they have fiber and nutrients in with the sugar/carb mix. It's the sauces and the fats and whatever else you eat along with the carbs, as well as the quantity of carbs you eat in proportion to other nutrients. It's been scientifically proven that WW is the way to go, because it is all about balance that is the secret to long term success. I don't have a huge problem with the South Beach diet in general becuase that is not a "no carb" regime, it is a balanced one. My best friend lost a lot of weight with South Beach but she is having a hard time keeping it off because like I said, that diet is hard to follow over the long haul being so strict. Anyway, it sounds to me like you are a stress eater and stress is your biggest enemy, not what you eat. I am a stress eater and evenings are a hard time for me too. I get stressed at work and fall prey to sweets, even if I have a healthy snack I can eat instead. I have no appetite in the morning, I want my coffee and sweets and that's it. My appetite kicks in about 7:30 PM, the WORST imaginable time to eat for your metabolism. Yet on the weekends when I am away from work stress I usually don't have these stress type cravings. I suggest you work on the causes of your stress. If it is missing your husband and lonliness, try to find some friends and partners who can "be there" for you during the times you are tempted to stress eat. That's where WW meetings might help. Also, try to purposely schedule some activities into your day and week that will relieve stress. Reach out to get your emotional needs met. It may take some work but it can be done. Anyway, take whatever I have written with a grain of salt, it's just my experience, my opinion and I could be TOTALLY OFF BASE!...See Moreneed some goat info please.....
