Help with scrawny Ponytail Palm
Comments (2)hm, I had one of these when I lived in Hawaii. I had it outside in partial sun(on the lanai)and it grew huge at the base. I believe the width of the pot will regulate the size of the trunk if given good sun and proper care when you can in the spring. The three tops are from chopping the top. It looks like that was done. You could remove two of the tops to get back to one if you want, but I think it is fine as is. Take a Dremel tool and shape up the top trunk cut to look more natural. Enjoy and Merry Xmas. Comments (1)Well, I might have just solved my own mystery. On further inspection, I found a powdery mildew like substance on the bottom leaves. I have removed most of the sickly leaves and sprayed the entire plant with fungicide and will hope for the best. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know. Thanks....See MoreHelp with Ponytail Palm
Comments (2)So you are saying, forget it, chop it off and let it regrow from the base with no hope of re-starting the top as a second plant. So be it. I know that it will regrow with multiple new shoots. Should I let it grow, then select one to be the new top or let it be a multiple? Any advice?...See MoreNeed help witth my ponytail palm

Those out of focus little blobs in the photo above here is a shot of a cycad's collaroid roots (totally normal, and a good sign the plant has been fixing nitrogen and trying to grow well)....See More- 5 years ago
