I've bought curtains from Kohls and Boscov's. .Got really nice ones from Ross but that's hit or miss, just what they have when you are there that day.

The problem that I ran into with the store bought curtains is that there can be a difference in the length of the panels. Many are not made exactly to the measurement on the package and in my case with the panels I got (from JCP) the variance was quite significant. When I complained to a manager, her response was anything within a 6 inch difference was acceptable and not considered to be “flawed”. Not helpful at all.

Just my opinion but when you have a four inch difference in the hem of two panels side by side to each other, that’s flawed. 8 panels and no two were the same length. I ended up having to get them in a longer length and pay to have them hemmed just so they’d hang evenly,...cha ching!

What I didn’t know at the time is that another alternative is to go with one of the shops on Etsy. With some of them, if they don’t have a fabric or design you like posted, they will work with you. I ended up doing that with our kitchen & dining room valences. I had a fabric I really loved shipped to them direct. I got them two weeks later, lined, pressed and ready to hang. I was stunned at the craftmanship and how beautiful they turned out.

This is the shop I went with mainly because they offer custom work, when we decide to change the drapes I got from JCP, I will be using this shop again.
