Of the builder's you've listed I know the Pool Man has a very good reputation locally. Other names that appear to be coming up consistently as good builders are: Cypress Custom Pools Best Backyard Pools Atlantis Pools Hipp Pools Perry Pools Cypress Custom Pools and Best Backyard pools both have some more contemporary pools on their websites but like I said all the names above seem to have a really good reputation round here Hope that helps a little, sorry i can't give my personal experience as we're in the same phase as you and have just started looking at the moment.

Seems to me that a deck for this would need to be made of wood. This will likely cause some issues since 5/4" decking needs to be supported, usually with 2x10 or 2x12 lumber. Without seeing the tracking and mounting they said the can use, it would otherwise expect that the first heavy snow load would tear the tracks out or at least make the mount points very loose in short order. Wood is just too soft to take that kind of load. Those tracks are generally full or nearly fully supported and I just don't see that happened without some really creative engineering and craftsmanship. If you were willing, putting the tracks and spooling on top of the deck might be a better solution. Still, this seems like a lot of money for an AGP. The distance from the water's surface and cover's underside needs to be considered. The water supports the cover's weight. Winterization might also raise some issues and bears looking at and having a solution before starting this. The lines and skimmer need a way to be empty of water so they won't crack when the water turns to ice and expands. The plastics used don't stand a chance. I would suggest a removable ladder and teaching your Houdini that the penalty for violating the rules is some strict discipline. Don't put a $10,000 cover on a $3000 pool. Scott

I wonder if something like this would work even though it is grass around it an not a paver patio. We may add a paver path to the edge from the concrete, but not sure how to do the edge and get it to stay level with the grass and be able to drive the lawn mover tires (lawn tractor) on it so it doesn't collapse too. Also what do you use inside the ring that can keep stuff from growing into the pool/liner and then when the pool is removed easy to add the material where the pool was. The tallest height is 12" but it doesn't stay that for more than a few feet.

Also what grade of cement should I be making sure they use and how thick should it be? Does 35psi and 4" thick with a brushed finished be the right thing to require? I too live in Florida and although all our kids combined do not live with us, we have grandchildren that will visit and have friends w/kids. We are also dancers and the patio will be used for dancing too, so we were looking for a non-slip material and one that stays cool in the heat. This is why we were looking at travertine. Can we find travertine that is under $10 a sq ft that can look modern? Preferably $7 a sq ft? If so, how would it be laid? I believe the total sq ft for around the pool and the patio is under 600 sq ft. The entire space is approx 40x 30. Do you know how much stamped concrete will cost per sq ft?
