Comments (29)Josh, it was only 28F here last night. Reading your posts makes me and my plants feel like wimps. I brought in my Pachypodiums and Dyckia m-l's last night. I was going to leave them outside with all my other succulents, but relented (panicked) around midnight, and brought them inside. Some of my Echeverias have splotchy leaves this morning, but I'm sure it won't be fatal. During the Great Freeze in January 2007, it got down to 25F for almost twelve hours, that after several previous nights in the high twenties. Nothing was killed, but a large Euphorbia ammak was frozen all along the edges, scarred for life. Several largish Crassula ovata had smaller branches and leaves frozen, but recovered with no obvious damage. I called it Freeze Pruning. Brad...See MoreIt's raining cats & blooms
Comments (13)THANK YOU to anyone who checked out my pictures. A double thank-you to anyone who fell in love with Zeus...haha. (He's my baby boy). I still don't understand why God designed peonies to have such massive flowers on those ridiculously flimsy, thin stems. Unless you use peony rings or cages, they fall down from the weight of their blooms and end up in the mud. Jean...I still feel pangs of sadness for you that you lost your dear Ms. Blackie. I knew you would enjoy seeing the cats, Zeus especially. Lily likes to spend her days hunting and will sit in the grass and rest once in awhile. She is getting up there in age but is still a good hunter. Fat Cat Nemo likes to go outside then turn around and beg to come back in. Rita...It's amazing isn't it, to have gotten a photo of Fat Cat Nemo when he's awake. That is one lazy cat. I am pretty sure in the above photo he had just woken up. Probably getting up to go eat some more. LOL. Linda...we do have lots of plants you don't have down there, but you also have some we don't have. Anything slightly tropical is an annual here unless you bring them inside in the fall. I still think Fat Cat and Little Boy were seperated at birth. FC sends his best wishes to Little Boy for lots of good food in his tummy. Kay...Zeus thanks you for the compliment. He is a very, very spoiled kitty and deservedly so. Glad you liked the peonies. Comments (37)Here is my Plant ghetto w/2 pools. One in full brutal sun, and another with a little protection for the more delicate plants. We’re supposed to be getting lots of rain so I will be funneling water out to avoid rotting....See MoreVulture61
