Remove dining and get an additional bedroom?
Comments (35)Sorry that I got too intense. I noticed that Nick wasn't engaging with any comments that seemed personal or critical, and I imagined that could be because he was feeling marginalized. Probably wild imagination on my part! I've noticed that many (possibly the majority) of OPs mention resale when they are considering making a change in their home's function, but often the resale is not imminent. If the sale is a decade or more in the future then it doesn't matter what future buyers might think, to me anyway. Only Nick and his household can know if this amount of dining space is sufficient for them. My reading of the original post was "we want to make this change because it would work well for our household, but we are worried about what hypothetical future buyers will think." Maybe I'm reading too much into all of it! Again, sorry for the drama :)...See MoreVinyl window color choice - Please share your thoughts.
Comments (24)White windows are 1000 times more difficult to work with in terms of designing exterior color palettes than any other option. Because everybody thinks "white goes with everything". It doesn't. So not only do I have to deal with extremely limiting white windows I also have to have a 20 minute conversation about the fact that the white windows that the client chose because "they go with everything" do not go with everything -- and why. Only reason beige is a little bit easier is because it's obvious to most people that the options for color schemes is going to be limited so there's not a whole lot to talk about. Black is better than white or beige but it too can be limiting - black windows basically will define the entire vibe of the house. Bronze I can pull many different ways. I can pull it to work with a slate bluish-gray roof, I can pull it to work with a warmish driftwood gray roof, I can pull it to work with a brown or rusty orange roof. Classic, traditional, cottage-y, craftsman, modern, etc. Everyone should buy bronze windows. This is my house circa 1994. Comments (13)Thank you L D re: your comments about the base of the lamp. I agree the black marble might be too stark - it was all I could find online for now. BeverlyFLADeziner, I appreciate your suggestions about repurposing the lamps to another place. I thought about that, but don't really have a suitable place for them. I don't have a lot of furniture in this apartment. Salonva, I am planning to just replace the shades and add mirrors (or maybe prints -- haven't decided yet) behind the lamps to balance things out. I would prefer to leave the lamp bases as they are if I can. Thank you all for taking the time to share your suggestions. They are greatly appreciated. :)...See MoreAre these going together.....Please share your thoughts!!
