A really good trim color that I have used throughout the years with multiple colors (looks good with everything) is Pratt & Lambert "Silver Lining"...it is a good trim color.

are you using both of your chosen whites in the same room, on different rooms. Are they viewed from the same space? Why not do ceilings the same color as the walls if room is small? I like layered whites in the same room, but I have to be able to see the space, see the lighting, see how they play with each other and in what amounts they work best. I think I am saying, you are there ... you are seeing your area..you seem to have a good eye for color....I think you should be the last word in this, but you definitely have the right idea of whites and whites.

I'm not a decorator by any stretch of the imagination, but when I hear "monochromatic", I think of several different tones of one color like blue or gray, not white. All those different whites to me would still just look white and very sterile. Maybe you can do your trim and beadboard in a soft soft gray to offer just a little bit of contrast.

I had to have trim work done and the first paint looks way too yellow. Suggestions on trim colors? I am planning to replace these shutters with board and batten either dark navy or dark grey.
