Comments (13)Thank you bonnie and all. I will post the sorry pics that my camera would spit out into my computer (not totally downloading all pics.) The bench and pillows with the matching window dressing. I used a bit of wallpaper to make the bench fit in. It use to be an old redwood bench from the garden. I made the seat cusion. All of my materials were scraps from resale or clearance. The chandi was found in my attic when we moved in. I painted it black, added shades and crystals. I put the modern chandi fixture that was there into my laundry room. I love to see chandi fixtures in the laundry room, mud room, and walk-in pantry closets, ect....See MoreBirthday Brunch - what am I missing?
Comments (24)Your menu sounds great Alexa:) And the bacon knots sound really delicious! I'm going to add those to my file :) We just hosted a small 3 day college guy weekend, they all just turned 60 this year. I made the potato casserole and it got the most raves of all the food stuffs LOL! My recipe reads almost the same, although no cream of mushroom soup...either cream of celery or cream of chicken and green onions rather than regular. And I decided to add sausage that I'd pre-cooked. It was quite tasty with the sausage. Also 45 minutes wasn't enough time to really get those taters cooked thru and thru...I cook for at least an hour. Does your recipe suggest making 6+ small hollows with the back of a spoon 15 minutes prior to finish bake time and slip an egg in? Sometimes I do, sometimes not. Enjoy your party, I'm sure the guys are sure to think you're the bomb!...See MoreYour best Brunch ideas/recipes, please!
Comments (10)Hi Linda! My sister just made this yesterday for a May Breakfast at work. She said it was a huge hit. Baked French Toast Casserole with Maple Syrup Description: Recipe courtesy Paula Deen Ingredients: 1 loaf French bread (13 to 16 ounces) 8 large eggs 2 cups half-and-half 1 cup milk 2 tablespoons granulated sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg Dash salt Praline Topping, recipe follows Maple syrup Directions: Slice French bread into 20 slices, 1-inch each. (Use any extra bread for garlic toast or bread crumbs). Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9 by 13-inch flat baking dish in 2 rows, overlapping the slices. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, half-and-half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt and beat with a rotary beater or whisk until blended but not too bubbly. Pour mixture over the bread slices, making sure all are covered evenly with the milk-egg mixture. Spoon some of the mixture in between the slices. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight. The next day, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spread Praline Topping evenly over the bread and bake for 40 minutes, until puffed and lightly golden. Serve with maple syrup.
