Omega Dynasty or Crown Point????
Comments (21)After doing a tremendous amount of research and scouring over these forums we recently decided on Crown Point kitchen cabinets for our kitchen remodel. We had finally (after two months of searching) decided on Candlelight semi custom cabinets when a blizzard in our area resulted in my doing just a little bit more research and deciding to contact Crown Point. My designer at Crown Point was Michael Murphy and within one week Michael had helped us to finalize our design, came to measure our space and had ordered our cabinets. From that point on Michael delivered on every one of his promises right up to the exact date of delivery. The cabinets were the most expensive part of the remodel and I was a little bit crazy about everything being exactly perfect. Michael was patient and professional in dealing with me at every turn. He was there as a resource for our DIY installation and even went in to work on a Saturday just to call and check in to see how we were doing with the installation. The cabinets are very high quality and beautiful and I would highly recommend Crown Point (and Michael) to anyone....See MoreKraftmaid vs Omega dynasty
Comments (32)I recently (summer 2013) ordered and received Dynasty cabinets, and was terribly disappointed in the quality of construction. While the doors look very nice, the cabinets themselves were very poor quality- the frames on multiple cabinets were so out of square they could not be installed properly, we had two different highly experienced installers on site, neither could believe the sloppy workmanship and shoddy construction, and did not feel the cabinets were worth the money paid. The sides and bottoms do not fit well, gaps are visible throughout, and flimsy 3/8 plywood was used, even on the back which supports the weight of the cabinet. The corner blocking was falling out of several units, and misaligned in others. We received 3 replacements for one cabinet, which in the end was still damaged but we decided to just live with it due to the extensive delays. And we now just discovered one of the face frames is split where the screw fastens the corner(we had thought it was a scratch, and were planning on living with it rather than experience more delays). There is very little holding these cabinet frames together, I do not expect them to last. They are definitely overpriced and not worth the $22,000 paid. Do not be misled by the company website claim of master craftsmanship- perhaps in earlier times the craftsmanship was there, but it is clearly not present now....See MoreStarmark Inset or Omega Dynasty Overlay
Comments (5)I would go for the inset. I don't like the gaps between the cabinet face and the door. I had a fly wriggling through the gap into my cabinet the other day! It also keeps dust out. Next time I will get partial or full inset. The insets are beautiful and not something you see all the time. If you go overlay, also be careful that there is an adequate counter overhang allowance to protect your cabinets from drip damage. They use the box measurements of the cabinetry to calculate overhang without considering the door, but the door plus gap takes up a good inch of that overhang. You can end up with flush. I have had cabinets that were ruined over the years from that arrangement....See MoreNeed help deciding between Candlelight or Dynasty cabinets!
Comments (4)I sold Dynasty for 3 years. I loved working with them. They offered top notch quality, great customer service, and a huge amount of customization. If there was something that Dynasty couldn't do, like pocket doors on an oven cabinet for a TV above it, the sister full custom company Omega could do it. The lines dovetail seamlessly with each other so that you only need to use one or two full custom cabinets for a whole kitchen, which helped to keep costs down. The kitchens that I did in painted beaded inset averaged 35-55K and usually involved stacked cabinets, glass, wood goods, and other upscale details. The frameless line averaged from 10% less to 20% more than many American RTA lines suggested here for people to use when compared apples to apples....See MoreUser
