Finished Kitchen: White-ish, charcoal counters and blue glass bs
Comments (43)Alexx - I really love your kitchen! It came out beautifully!! I have a question about your counters. I am doing a similar look with the white shaker cabs (framed w/full overlay) and quartz (Caesarstone Raven) countertops. I will also be doing a mitered edge with a 1.5" overhang. My question is ... how far do your counters project past your cabinet boxes, as well as past the doors/drawer fronts. There is some dispute between my cabinet maker and the countertop folks. Cabinet maker says I should have a 1" projection past the doors/drawer fronts, while the countertop folks are suggesting a "flush" appearance (not truly flush, but more like a 1/4" projection). Can you tell me what yours are? And if anyone reading this has suggestions or advice, I would appreciate it! Thank you!...See MoreSilestone Charcoal Soapstone suede finish
Comments (57)@Beth Would you mind posting photos of your completed kitchen? The marble slab photo you posted above in this thread is GORGEOUS! I’ve been a “stalker” on Houzz now for awhile - you give some of the best advice I’ve read on here - especially when someone desperately needs help trying to pull elements together (many times bc some element has not turned out to be exactly what the person was expecting - and he/she is GREATLY disappointed). You consistently present great ideas - and, obviously, spend a lot of time helping people out. You are my favorite contributor! Comments (16)Yes, your results are consistent with what I found when I did several rounds of testing on manufactured quartz last summer. The suede finishes seem to be pretty prone to staining. I haven't tried bleach on a suede finish, but I used it a lot on the polished ones and it didn't damage the surface and it did remove the stains. As for the scratching, yes, the quartz surfaces tend to be slightly softer than granite. I tested that over and over and found that to be a consistent result. Another consequence of that is that scrubbing or abrasives can damage the finish. I didn't end up doing any comprehensive testing on suede finishes, so I didn't write about it in any of the articles - these used polished samples for the tests. Nonetheless, the results might be helpful to you. https://usenaturalstone.org/do-engineered-quartz-countertops-stain/ https://usenaturalstone.org/got-data-testing-the-performance-of-granite-engineered-quartz-concrete-and-sintered-countertop-surfaces/...See MoreThe Kitchen Place
