have a plant you wish you never ever bought home?
Comments (9)Hey Gabro, The plant i was talking about was the one that has the plastic cover around it. I forgot to mention that the plastic cover was open on both ends. Like i mentioned in the Cacti & Succulents Forum, the plant was top heavy, and would topple over easily. Well a few days ago, it got knocked and toppled onto the cement floor, which caused it to break into 20 or so pieces. There isn't much left of it, so the only thing i could do was scoop up the stems and leaves that broke off and put them in some soil in hopes that they might root. Now, the plant is looking very much like it is destined for the dumpster soon. It wasn't holding on much before it took it's spill, and i'm not sure that it will pull thru being destroyed. Oh well like i said before, i never really liked the plant in the first place. - Pete...See MoreWhat New Plants Have you Bought this Season?
Comments (12)I haven't bought too many this month but I went nuts in Feb and March. 14 new ones in Feb alone. But as far as April and May goes, I've been getting really into cacti and a few succulents. Rhipsalidopsis gaertneri (Easter Cactus) - From Wal-Mart in pretty bad condition, and it wasn't even marked down, but I felt so bad for it that I bought it anyways. It now looks great and won't stop growing! Not that I want it to stop. Dahlia (Stargazer) - Just a seed I planted...one of the few that actually has survived. Agave of some sort - Still haven't been able to get an ID on this one. Frustrating, but I'll forgive it 'cause it's a neat looking plant. Echinocereus enneacanthus - I call it my Killer Cactus. Hehe. Stetsonia coryne (Toothpick Cactus) - This one's a killer cactus too, but the name was taken by above cactus. Hildewinteria aureispina (Golden Rat Tail) - I saw a larger version of this plant that I really liked, but I love to buy small and watch them grow really big by my hand so I found just a little one. Aloe striata (Coral Aloe) - Everyone pray for me. I have no luck with aloes, but I thought it was so neat I had to have it, and like Crotons I thought that if I tried enough times I'd get the hang of them. Codiaeum variegatum (Mammy) - I was telling myself no more plants for a while, but this one was half price at Superstore. What can I say...the addiction kicked in. And citosa, I'm totally jealous of you. I want an Adenium obesum so bad. I looked on Ebay for some seeds and I found a ton, but I just don't trust anyone over the internet....See MoreHAVES: 2016 SPRING MAG SWAP (Saturday, May 7) - Plants You Have List
Comments (40)Likewise!! It was so wonderful actually meeting everyone and thank you SO very much for your generosity! Gardengramma, thank you especially for hosting, and providing such a gloriously beautiful place for us to meet. (You did am amazing job dialing up the weather as well). Since I got there without my leucojeum or redhot poker I'd be open to making one-off arrangements. I had to get the leucojeum right back into the ground but I can dig some more. Some people also mentioned a possible fall meeting? Which of course would be better for leucojeum, peonies, other fall-dormant plants... One other note - I thought I'd be able to tell people this as we traded but it was a little too chaotic -- in our area we have a serious problem with Japanese stilt grass, very invasive in the woods near us. I don't know if it's widespread but I don't want to be responsible for spreading it. I'm pretty sure I did not include any ride-alongs in my trades, BUT, stilt-grass makes a lot of seed. It's incredibly easy to pull up and easy to kill, but if it goes to seed, it makes an awful lot. Don't let anything grassy come up in your transplants......See More2019 SPRING MAG SWAP - Plants You Have List

Spreading or freely self-sowing is one thing, but we really should not spread invasive plants as conscientious gardeners....See MoreStefan
