To platform bed or not to platform bed?
We just bought a place and I'm planning our master bedroom. I finally found a bed frame that I love but my boyfriend is worried the low/platform frame will be a disaster (stubbed toes & broken ankles). For context, we'll be doing an accent wall behind the bed with floor to ceiling shiplap painted matte black.
Should I get this perfect bed or move on and choose another one?
*I'll add a picture of another bed I was considering but definitely don't love as much.

Comments (6)Toronado3800 I'm curious which craigslist you browsed. I just searched orange county's and could only find standard and cal kings. I previously worked at bed bath and beyond in San Diego and am going off what they taught us there. We did not carry eastern king in our location at all. About the stats...the rise in Hispanic and Asian populations is a lot more recent than mattress sizes are. Plus there are many bi and multiracial people here that are typically forced to put themselves as the minority race on a form. Even though I'm only half Hispanic companies and schools request I place that as my sole race because saying I'm also white isn't as beneficial for their stats. Lame that the system works that way but until multiracial is a common option that's how it is. When traits are mixed u can end up with tall Hispanics and Asians ( who also can be full blooded and tall) . As far as Wikipedia their other entry on bed size states calking is most common on west coast. Comments (0)Looking to purchase a queen upholstered platform bed. Bedroom furniture is mid century modern. Carpet is off white and at the moment the back bedroom wall is painted Benjamin Moore, Amazon Soil. The other walls are BM Muslin. The paint can be changed but not the carpet. Was looking at the Tailored platform bed from The Inside. There are multiple fabric options and I am leaning toward neutral colors, either husk or talc linen. https://www.theinside.com/products/tailored-platform-bed-queen-talc-linen-12457. I want to stay neutral but both fabrics I selected are fine but boring. I don’t know how to make it less boring without committing to a fabric color that would be limiting. I selected this platform bed because I have seen it in person and slept on it. With that said, I would appreciate any suggestions of a lower priced option. 5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoHere is our Master bed. Hubby built it from pipe. it is high enough to sit down on without falling to the floor. Hubby's design also allows it to fold up for moving with a few turns of a pipe wrench.

5 years agoyes you will stub. but then your feet will learn it's there. If you like it, then get it.
my husband and I have built platform beds for us and our son.
the bottom portion is inset, but on my sons there is an overhang. i've hit my leg on the corner many times.
what helps is if you have a larger space to maneuver around the bed. my sons room is pretty narrow.
