help!!!!! need 'staggered uppers' question answered quick for GC
Comments (3)brickton: Yes!!! That's exactly the GC's question. The cabinet co. will make the corner cabinet taller and it will protrude out more than the 2 on either side(approx. 3 inches). The bottoms of all cabinets will line up...just like your photo. I like how it looks and my DH definitely wants it taller. Thank you so much for the reply and picture!!!! Anyone else with staggered cabinets like this? Is the corner cabinet sticking out an issue? Thanks all. Still figuring out how to get my plan back in a post....See Moresearching for pix of staggered cabinets
Comments (9)Here's a photo of my cabs. They're staggered height and depth as others have mentioned. One thing I'd point out in my photo - you can see that the cabs aren't staggered randomly. The higher/deeper cabinets are the ovens, hood, and corner cab. So it looks like the different heights are serving a purpose rather than purely decorative. I think this gives the varied heights and depths more of a form following function look....See MoreKitchen cabinet, Beam conflict with upper cabinet
Comments (7)Just extend the soffit above the rest. There’s no real functional gain for what you are proposing with that many cabinets in the kitchen. Additional storage at must have a step stool to access is outweighed by the mess and expense, when there’s already plenty of storage....See MoreUpdating staggered cabinets
Comments (8)In order to get cabinets to go to the ceiling, you'd most likely have to go custom as I'm guessing these will not be standard heights and each box is different than the one next to it. You'd mostly likely achieve a look similar to what is posted earlier in this thread. Other than re-doing the uppers entirely (which seems silly since they're so new), I'm not sure what other options you have. Let's hope some of the pros chime in here... they may have other ideas....See MoreM Miller
