You all do know, you can eat them, don't you? I put mine in a salad... sooo pretty! But on my bicycle tour, I eat my way along the routes... ;)

Mine are not up yet. But I had/and have blooming daffodils, and crocus.

Very little is blooming yet here. It seems so late. I usually have lenten rose blooming in February and they have not bloomed at all. It doesn't bode well to their surviving this extremely cold winter we had. :( I did see a few daffodils in a cemetery I visited late last week.

So my day lilies are from a few years ago. I love them and add to their numbers whenever I can. I only know the name of one of them though it escapes me now. It's an uncle of Marilyn's I think who developed this particular one. Not sure if I have that story right but I know it was an award winner.

This one is the one in Marilyn's family, a real beauty.

This last one (I just remembered) is called Baltimore Oriole. I found it after I had moved back home after living in Baltimore for 14 years. Loved my time there. But when I found this day lily I knew I had to add it to my collection.

First tiger lily sprout - they aren't true tigers, but that's what my mom called them so I continue to call them that as well.

murraysmom....my kwanso.....? I told you the story of how Chinese workers on the railroad brought them over. They are not new. Marilyn may have sent you some lilies too? :0) I answered an ad on CL. Filled my truck to the top of the bed. The woman wanted to plant raspberries, instead of day lilies.

My stargazer from last year. Weeds tried to take over. It has been cleaned up currently and the lilies are looking good just not blooming yet.

Nicole, yes, kwanso!! That is what it is. And it has something to do with "Stout", Marilyn's relative. He won an award, I think. Here's a link at least to the name.

The highest award a cultivar can receive in the United States is the Stout Silver Medal, given in memory of Dr. Arlow Burdette Stout, who is considered to be the father of modern daylily breeding in North America. This annual award—as voted by American Hemerocallis Society Garden judges—can be given only to a cultivar that has first received the Award of Merit not less than two years previously.

Aaaaahhhhhhh.......and....see where it says "white striped leaves"? Mine are solid green. So "not" a Stout bred Kwanso....? The sun will bleach stripes on a single leaf.....but not on the whole plant at once. I do love Kwanso lilies!!!!!!

I had tons of the kwanso lilies at my Oklahoma house. They were all along one side of the house and all of the front of the barn. It was so pretty when they were all in bloom. I miss them I need to get a few.

raven... I have some at a rental house I should divide them and bring them to the new house. I also want tiger lilies. :0)

I just got some tiger lilies last year. I stopped at a ditch and dug them up. :)
