What colors are in the rest of your home? Why did your Kitchen Designer suggest such a wimpy blue mix instead of choosing something with more oomph? Since you ”love color”, why aren’t you picking a real color? Gray is going away, so I’m surprised she’d suggest it at all. I'm even more surprised that she’d suggest something like that to someone who loves color.

We closed on our house today wahoooo! I only got to spend about an hour there but looked quickly at the samples for trim/doors/ceilings. I think I've narrowed it down to three possibilities: BM Simply White, SW Extra White and BM Super White. I thought about BM Chantilly Lace too. Basically, looking at the finishings, my first gut is that BM Simply White looks the best. I just worry it may look too yellow once up on everything. At least that's what I read (and you know how reliable the internet is). First question: has anyone had experience with BM Simply White? Does it just read warm or do you see the yellow in it when it's one trim/doors/ceilings? So I may go that direction, or wonder if I should go with a cleaner white but something close. Something still a little warm... As for the runners up, from what I can see SW Extra White and BM Super White are very similar but Extra White maybe looks a little warmer? Maybe because it has more chroma? Is this understanding accurate, Lori A. Sawaya?? And it seems to me that the order of warmth would go SW Extra White, BM Super White, BM Chantilly Lace... is that a correct reading? Again for context - East/West exposures with a lot of shade. Wall colors aren't chosen but would likely be something along the lines of BM Edgecomb Gray, BM Ballet White, BM Chelsea Gray, BM Natural Cream. Daughter's room will be BM Opal. I'll try to take some pics of the finishings tomorrow but would love any thoughts on this. Thanks!

That was a helpful video nhb22 - I think the big question is can this space support light or dark cabinets? If you go light you can do COLOR on the wall. If you do dark cabinets you will want to go LIGHT on the wall (white /no color). If you did seasalt in LR and are happy with it it may need the kitchen area in a light white to balance that / make it all make sense and not be an overload of bluish green colors that are close in tones. I would argue that that dark gray cabinet is NOT a good family member to sea salt walls right near it. Why not stay on the sea salt color flute and go with something like SW Retreat or Pewter Green for the kitchen cabinets? Then you are staying within a family of colors. Origami white on the walls AND the uppers and soffit in the kitchen would compliment the Retreat / Pewter Green color and make the kitchen not too heavy and dark. Check it out.

I want to use the white 52 as trim. Does it pull any undertones with these colors? Not sure what pull any undertones means exactly. But we know that White 52 belongs to the Green-Yellow hue family. It's very low in Chroma (colorfulness) and it has a Value of 9.26 which is the brightness that you'd expect with a color of white. Low Chroma, high Value colors of white from the Green-Yellow hue family like White 52 are often perceived as "just white" and appear neutral under a range of light sources and in various contexts. Eider White and Repose Gray have more Chroma and are darker than White 52; you'll get a nice pop of contrast. In terms of the colors relate with White 52, they're next to each other on the color wheel. Which means they go together. Not that that matters all that much because colors of white from the front half of the green yellow hue family typically go with everything because of their neutral appearance.
