Are you quilting this weekend? March 23-24

Hello Quilters! What are you sewing this week? I haven't had time to go to my sewing room but I did go to the Featherweight Club and sew all day on Tuesday. My schedule for the week has been mixed up due to the day at the Featherweight Club. My DS and family are coming today (Friday) to stay overnight. They will leave after dinner tomorrow evening.

I worked on flying geese on Tuesday and got them all made. I just need to press them. I have been working on the projects from the Frivols boxes that I received as gifts. I decided they would be good for me to take when I go the sew with the club. I have cut them out and put them back in the box and they are ready to just pick up and go.

I have a heart block I want to make and then press the split 9-patch I finally got put together. I'll probably either need a border or another row on each side. Would like to get the next row on the Orphan RBR. :-)

Have a pattern, pulled out and washed fabric. Won't get to cutting until Monday but it is a start. Housework... bah!

It sounds like everyone is having a busy weekend, quilting or otherwise! Well, you know what they say about "idle hands", so I don't think we'll have any problems here, eh? Friday night we got hit with a fast-acting blizzard (2 feet of snow in just about 12 hours), so the state police closed the post office I work in, so I came home to a 4-day weekend. Yesterday I made a set of 4 coasters for the current Seeds-n-Stitches swap. I call them Grape Pie Coasters, and whenever they're washed, the "crust" will become more pronounced as they unravel a little. The blue fabric is the underside of the coaster, and I'm glad I had some fabric to make the interwoven crust with! I'm hoping to finish a quilt I'm in the middle of making. Instead of making a bunch of crazy quilt blocks, I'm doing the whole thing as one huge block. I'm also planning on working on blocks for the birthday block exchange and the mystery quilt I'm hosting for Aprils S-n-S group. But, right now, I think it's time to go bake some sugar cookies to enjoy with my coffee this morning! Have a great weekend everyone! Dan

Thanks Calliope. Today I finished hand-sewing Card Tricks blocks #90 and #91 - just 9 blocks left to make! I am so excited to be this close to finishing this project. Once I get the blocks made, will set them aside and make a baby quilt for a friend, and then after that is done will later in the year hand-sew all 100 blocks together - the points are so thick where the triangles meet up that I am afraid it would break needs if I sew it on the machine and by doing it by hand I can make sure all the points turn out pretty. Calliope what does GFG stand for? I am still trying to learn all the abbreviations on the Quilting Forum. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Best to you, Sandra

Theresa, The blocks are all together and am in the process of sewing the rows together. I only made it 6 blocks X 8 blocks but will probably put a border on it. I haven't been able to work on it for very long at a time as I've had to take a few pain pills to ease discomfort........and then would have to snooze a bit. And, have also been trying to get my hearts together...almost there....sigh. Looks like I posted that Friday was National Quilting Day when it was actually Saturday, the 21st. I guess I started early. I'll get pictures up as soon as I can. Have a good week everyone!

Linda, congratulations! How exciting ... and happy mama and baby are doing well. Valarie, I hope you figure out what is going on with your dog. It is hard when our furry family has health problems because they can't tell us what is going on. Poor baby. We have our grandDOG for the weekend. She will go home later this afternoon. We went to the home & garden show and looking at RVs with friends yesterday. We did stop at a quilt shop to pick up a book and tool I ordered. It's Strippy Stars by Deb Heatherly and also got a new tool to make the stars. I am anxious to give it a try. Friday night I did finish another UFO and then sandwiched another quilt and started quilting it. I have it almost ready for the binding - hoping to get it done this afternoon. I have lots of weeds calling my name, but it is kind of chilly outside so the sewing machine is calling louder! Sue

No quilting this weekend. I packed up my little Janome Jem for the trip home to Minnesota. She's been living in Hawaii for a few years. My grandkids are coming to spend spring break with us here on Maui, and then we'll be heading home on April 2. We still haven't got a buyer for our condo, but I know these things take time. Grrrr. We're taking the kids on a whale watch and we're going to the great aquarium that they have on island. We'll also do some snorkeling, swimming and canoeing and visit the top of the dormant volcano, Haleakala. We found a great beach where the huge honu (sea turtles) come ashore to bask in the sun. They're traveling by themselves for the first time (they're 18 and 16), so it's sure to be an adventure.

Enjoy the spring weather wherever you are.

Lois, I'm sure nobody in Minnesota is doing any of those things right now! LOL

omsewing so far, but DH and I drove over to Dunedin (about 2 hours west) so I could go to Rainbows End quilt shop. :). I didn’t buy anything but I enjoyed looking. We also walked out to the pier and enjoyed watching pelicans and boats for a while.

I'm down with a cold. If I feel better tomorrow, I'll try and do some FMQ on the table topper for the mission auction.

Lois, snorkeling and swimming sounds absolutely fantastic. I am totally jealous! I started on a U of Oklahoma themed quilt for my nephew with purchased collegiate fabrics. I also cleaned bathrooms, did laundry, made chicken quesadillas for dinner. Nice, quiet weekend for me ;-)

We are back in Arizona for a week and my mom had a youth size quilt finished and sandwiched, so I quilted it for her and put the binding on. It felt good to be back in the "driver's seat"!!! We are here til Friday, then off on a Pamana Canal cruise. I am looking forward to the retreat so I can actually get some sewing time in!
