Comments (48)We're another couple who got married in a hurry by a judge. We'd been living together for years and really hadn't planned to marry but, his office wanted to transfer him from Montreal to Atlanta. I'd been living in Montreal for 15 years but I was and am an American citizen. His company had an attorney who was going to help DH navigate the path to a green card. I found out that if we were married I could simply go to the consulate and request status for him so it was a no brainer to get married. I mean, it wasn't that we didn't love each other or have a serious commitment, we owned a house together up there for many years and I brought the mortgage papers to the consulate to prove it, it's just that we weren't in any kind of hurry. We might have gotten around to it without the push or we might not have....See MoreBig Quilt Show in NYC March 26 & 27, 2011

Comments (24)Thanks Calliope. Today I finished hand-sewing Card Tricks blocks #90 and #91 - just 9 blocks left to make! I am so excited to be this close to finishing this project. Once I get the blocks made, will set them aside and make a baby quilt for a friend, and then after that is done will later in the year hand-sew all 100 blocks together - the points are so thick where the triangles meet up that I am afraid it would break needs if I sew it on the machine and by doing it by hand I can make sure all the points turn out pretty. Calliope what does GFG stand for? I am still trying to learn all the abbreviations on the Quilting Forum. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Best to you, Sandra...See MoreWhat are you quilting in August?
Comments (23)When I posted on Aug 2nd I had some grand plans for what I was going to accomplish this month. We're pretty close to half way though and I don't have any more of the GN's quilt blocks done. I have worked on the GD's a little and feel good about the progress there. My big news is that I finally received my Quilts of Valor back from the longarm quilter!!! Yea!!! She had them 7 weeks, which was 4 weeks longer than it took me to make them. She did a fabulous job on one - large meanders and beautiful stars, with a few more detailed designs in the corners. I'm not crazy about the other one - WAY too many designs with little soldiers marching, giant eagles, etc. But I hope the soldier that receives it likes it! These were my first two QOV and my first experience sending something off to a stranger to quilt. I've finished the binding and sewn on the label so now I'm just waiting to find out where to send them. Kate...See Moremaire_cate
