Front door dilemma
Comments (4)wow- that will be a big change! I assume all the window arch detail will be negated also? Be prepared to lose a lot of light, a transom door will help somewhat. I would be concerned of the large areas remaining after the siding is on, the gable plus the space above the windows to the roof line may make the house look very 'top heavy.' right now there is balance, the white trim on the windows, entry column detail & impressive window all work together. it depends on what look you are going for, a focal point in the gable space will be needed regardless. good luck! please post after pictures....See Morefront door dilemma
Comments (4)I love red doors, but, I dont think red doors fit y our house very well. I like black doors too, but, I dont think that would look great on your house either, it would make it too dark by your doorway. I do like teal, and think the right shade of teal, could easily work....See MoreNew Art Deco front door transom dilemma. Need ideas. Pics posted
Comments (19)Why not just paint that upper white part the same blue as the door? That will provide same or similar visual effect as your original door. Keep it simple. If you put a header on it, its going to clutter it up and draw attention to it and make the space look more awkward, not less.... besides being a total stylistic mismatch to the house and the door. I dont know if Id put anything in there at all - just blue to make it all look like a single, unified space. If you are replacing the sconce, get one thats simple, discrete, and doesnt draw attention to itself The door itself (is all the style statement you need to make. Its a simple, boxy brick house with a stylish blue door. Thats all you need - boom, done. Sometimes less is more....See MoreFront Door Dilemma
Comments (8)Full glass, best quality you can afford and black on black. Time to prune the bushes that are encroaching on the windows. Try for a more natural shape; smaller on top. You might want to add another layer of a variegated low growing plants in front. Add some perennials for seasonal color....See MoreCourtney L
