Lawn Boy Model # 10324 Surging Problem Solved (I think)!!!!!!!!!!
Comments (2)Thanks for the follow-up comments. Needless to say, I'm THRILLED that this seems to have resolved my all-of-a-sudden surging issues! I've had this mower since 1999 and have absolutely loved it and was bummed when it began giving me trouble for the first time ever earlier in the summer. I never thought I'd get it repaired and back in good working order after taking it to one shop 3 times and they finally gave-up on what was causing it to not start. I think the shop just really doesn't work on 2-cycle mowers very much and their preference as far as incoming work is simply just 4-cycles. I was glad that the pilot jet seems to have resolved the surging, as I read on the Internet that this jet specifically deals with non-load-bearing running of the engine if the thing's basically running but you're not actively putting the engine under stress w/cutting grass. You're prob. right... I imagine the original jet was most likely just dirty or something. Who knows... I agree though that the larger-bore replacement jet should serve the mower well. I don't use this Lawn Boy as much as I used to 5 years ago when we had a much smaller yard... we live on just over 1 acre now since 2003 so I have a John Deere for the majority of the yard, but our front yard simply looks better being mowed with a smaller mower and the John Deere is just too big of a mower to traverse through a smaller front yard. Okay... it's pushing 1 a.m. and I'm rambling. I'm definitely going to check into putting a fuel-filter like the one you mentioned on the fuel line. Thanks again!...See MoreI think I've finally found my cabinet paint!
Comments (13)I don't think you guys are getting the problem here. Matching isn't the issue! As much as I've ranted over it. I've found 10 colors that I absolutely love and are perfect. Until .... I get them home in the natural light. THEN, they turn turquoise, teal, or any way a green can blue. It's the light. I can't take that to any store I know of and have them match it. I've taken 10 paint chips to the store which they've made perfectly. Bring it home? Blueish in some lights. Ick. As far as the sheen, I like it in this instance. It's woodwork and the dining room can be somewhat darkened because of the porch outside. I understand the issues with a glossier paint. For being pissed? I was annoyed that yet again I was finding I was given the lip service "no" without someone actually taking the initiative to figure out the possibilities. So many can't think on their own. "No" is a good answer when "no" is the only answer. Even then, there are options. When my paint man actually looked up the formula, the high gloss was a base option. It wasn't a question of an inferior product. I am very open to information as to the whys of something. Automatic nay-sayers piss me off. I lived with one, who addressed every idea with, "The problem with that is...." rather than, "hmmm.. let's see what we can do." I choose to face all this crap I deal with optimistically, believe it or not. Or I'd probably kill myself. Or them. Even my Multi-Purpose Man has quit saying no. He asks, "Tell me how you see it?" BTW. So far, in the lights of two days, the color remains.... [drum roll] PERFECT!!! Thank you. [bowing left and right]...See MoreI think I've defeated the watermarks on my soapstone!
Comments (16)A few followups on the grapeseed oil: I don't know anything about the shelf life. I only know that it has a higher smoke point (and so is great for sauteeing). And it's very healthy. My counters now don't look or feel "oiled." They are just matte black. The Bee's oil made them a little waxier feeling (and water would bead up on them). This just feels like the oil is "one with the counter" if that makes sense. When you first apply it, the counters will look wet and oily and shiny. Different from bee's oil. Don't panic! I actually enjoyed pouring on a liberal amount b/c it is easier on my elbow. After applying the oil, just buff off the excess with a clean cloth. It is very fast overall. I hope it works well for others. Who knows, b/c I seem to have an odd variety of soapstone. And I hope you all have Trader Joe's in your neighborhoods. Because grapeseed oil is pricey. I wouldn't have thought of using it, if it weren't for the cheap, nice sized bottles of it that they sell. rm: L'Shana Tovah! Our synagogue celebrates a kid version of Rosh Hashana as "the birthday of the world." This is super fun! At our house, we take it a step further ande bake a birthday cake, and put on those big number candles for the year. We sing happy birthday to the world, and then i give my boys a gift that has something to do with nature. They love this holiday! My 7 year old took his shofar for show and tell today. And the cruiser bike is awesome!!! Except I have my feet "walking" on the ground more than peddling on the peddles, because I have to match my four year old's pace. :-) francy...See MoreSo I've been thinking about my no vent problem...
Comments (32)My DD informed me this morning that a long stretch of counter at the back of the kitchen would look "weird" and just get covered with stuff, THE NERVE! It's like she knows me or something. It's weirder to have a long, useful counter cut in two by a vertical element. Show her the NKBA guidelines--a budding kitchen designer is never too young to learn. ;) Guideline #3 (In part): A major appliance and its surrounding landing/work area form a work center. The distances between the three primary work centers (cooking surface, clean-up/prep primary sink, and refrigeration storage) form a work triangle. Guideline #4: A full-height, full-depth, tall obstacle should not separate two primary work centers. (Examples of a full-height obstacle are a tall oven cabinet, tall pantry cabinet, or refrigerator) If the oven cabinet is directly adjacent to the fridge, it becomes part of that work center--you move items from the fridge to the counter beside the ovens, then have a clear field to the cooktop. That long counter would be useful for staging baking trays for making cookies, lining up and landing multiple dishes going to/from the ovens for large holiday meals, and assembling school and work lunches....See Morenoseometer...(7A, SZ10, Albuquerque)
