Comments (2)I would try to find a way to widen the path before it gets to the gate opening, so as to make it seem more inviting ... and then not get any tall plant material too close to it, as it seems pinched when that happens....See Morelooking for suggestions for front yard landscaping ideas
Comments (3)My vision of beds is that plants eventually cover all the space (with shrubs, perennials, annuals and groundcover) so mulch is only a temporary covering ... just until the plants knit together. Therefore, no more adding of mulch. I know people make mulch beds, but that seems like an inferior solution considering it becomes unattractive (fading and weathering) and washes & wears away. Gravel is a double edge sword. It can become weed infested (for those who think it's a weed preventer) and it becomes littered with debris. Is a B to make alterations to when those are discovered needed in the future. Huge work to remove when it's discovered it isn't liked that much. This is a general scheme of arranging and organization. You choose the plants that make it work for your area. (Take picture to local garden center or Florida GardenWeb Forum for plant suggestions.) The left tree could be pygmy date (would take a while to get to size). The right tree could be Golden Trumpet. The seasonal color could be caladium bulbs as they are dependable (get sun tolerant variety.) Groundcover could be dwarf oyster plant or tricolor oyster plant....See MoreFront yard landscape ideas

If you pruned the first year at the wrong time, they might not bloom the second year. Hydrangeas are said to live up to 50 years if properly cared for. If they don't bloom this year, you should check with a local nursery on what could be wrong....See Moressriv17
