Popping up after years of dormancy
Comments (9)Hi Marie - it's as delightful to see you posting. Is it possibleNOT to say something nice about your garden? It's so, so lovely. I'm afraid I only vaguely remember chickens. I remember meeting people from the forum. I remember spilling coffee (by accident!) on PrairieMoon2, who was wearing a shirt with a lot of white in it. And I remember a plant combination you had - asarum europaeum planted under/in front of taxus. I loved the similar colors but contrasting texture and sheen. One day I hope I"ll have an occasion to copy that planting, but, meanwhile, I think of it. I'm sorry to hear about no time and less energy; I hope the time goes in ways that are satisfying, at least. PrairieMoon2, the standard sounds really interesting. I've tried that with coleus, but never with a begonia. Now you've inspired me: something to try this summer. Perhaps a cutting of 'Madame' can find its way to you? Succulents are a smart idea for a roof garden. Mine doesn't have water, either, at the moment, and I'm still thinking about how to resolve that. (I'll try to put it in, but I think it's a little tricky in a condo set-up.) I imagine there will come a time - fairly soon - when getting a workout by lugging water up to the roof gets, oh, I don't know...a bit old? :) Whatever I do, I imagine I'll use self-watering containers. Comments (22)I did end up writing GW a note to complain yesterday, as the shadow ads along one side were still showing up despite my bumping my pop-up blocker up to high. I was also getting more of the giant ads and the ad blocker that GW supposedly put in for us to use was still not working. But this morning I got a nice email from GW's Tamara, who is the manager of GW forums. I'm going to attempt to cut and past it here for you all to read. Lynn Hi Lynn, There was an issue with an overnight update, but it should now be resolved. If you are still seeing the rail ads, you should be able to clear them by refreshing your page by hitting the F5 key. If you're still having problems, please let me know. With best regards, Tamara Amey GardenWeb Community Manager...See MoreWhat's up with the App pop ups?
Comments (16)I can't help but see this not as a GW problem, but a problem with whoever designs your hardware's software. I use Firefox with the free Adblock Plus and Adblock Plus Pop-Up add-ons. I have no pop-ups whatsoever on GW: not even if I hover the mouse over the green words. (And no pop-ups anywhere else, either.) Of course, I'm not using an iPad or a smart phone, but a desktop and a laptop. Windows 7 on both (even the brand-new laptop). Not up-to-the-minute; not trendy; doesn't fit in my pocket; not Apple. But no pop-ups!...See MorePop-ups anyone????
Comments (11)Re Safari. I was thinking the ads on the right and top of the screen were pop ups but obviously they are not. Those were what I was referring to. Whatever they are they are a pain. Sorry for the confusion. I do have my "Block Pop Ups" checked under Safari. I guess I thought it wasn't working. I do get "netpics" ads sometimes when I close down Safari however. That problem isn't associated with this site....See Moreladybug A 9a Houston area
