Help! Looking for a good gray (hint of blue?) nursery paint color
Comments (3)Valspar has a color called "Silver City." It is a nice gray with just a smidge of blue to it. It you have a nice texture and use semi-gloss, it's shimmery. Looks great in my little boy's room, which has zero texture. And I had extra, so I painted my bathroom with it too! (That;s where I found the shimmer!) Looks great with all colors, especially browns and primary colors. I can look at my chip books and see what I can come up with if you're still looking....See MoreWhy does my gray paint look blue?
Comments (12)According to my iPhone photo data, the ‘before’ was taken at 1:54 and the ‘after’ at 1:06 so pretty darn close! Natural light only and the same overcast conditions. Not a single light bulb was on in the house. The goal was to replicate the photos so I specifically did not take the ‘after’ shot on a sunny day. My husband originally argued against changing the trim to save money. The previous owner painted the walls the same color as the trim so it was hard to tell what it would look like with the greige we picked out. I was unhappy with the way it looked and read every topic discussion on here about why it looked blue. In my searching here and on google I found someone else who had cream trim that gray looked blue next to. She changed hers to white and it appeared more gray. We gave it a shot and were blown away. I just posted this to try to help someone in the same situation....See MoreInterior Paint-The gray color i chose looks like it's blue, advice pls
Comments (9)but i did google it and read that dolphin fin has a blue undertone. but i also read that dolphin fin is a a warm gray, and i also read it gives a true gray color. Since Diana invited me. :) That one is easy to explain. Won't help where you are but at least you'll understand what you found when you Googled Dolphin Fin. It doesn't have a blue undertone. It's not about undertones. Instead, every color belongs to a hue family. Dolphin Fin belongs to the Yellow hue family - the very end of the Yellow hue family right where the Green-Yellow hue family starts. Can see what I mean on this color wheel. Hue family is determined using a balanced quality of light. What a balanced quality of light means is a quality of light with a nice, balanced mix of all the wavelengths in the spectrum. So when you have that kind of mixed-bag, balanced quality of light in your space, Dolphin Fin will look "just gray". Some may call it "true", others "warm". but overall "just gray". When the light doesn't have a mix of wavelengths, when it has more blue to green wavelengths, then Dolphin Fin will shift and appear as tho it is blue. Nothing is hidden or under anything. It's just the way the light is and it's just the way Dolphin Fin looks under that *color* of lighting. Changing light bulbs will change how it looks. Because if you change the light you change how a color looks. That's just the way color works. But if it's looking blue when the lights aren't on, then that's an inherent light issue. Can't move your windows and doors....See MoreHelp! What grey paint color won’t look blue in my northern faces rooms
