Frosted window in kitchen?

My kitchen has a staircase along the driveway wall going down to the basement. On the parallel driveway wall is a twin casement and the backyard wall has another twin casement and a patio door. The staircase is between the patio door and a chimney and past the chimney will just be the fridge/freezer. All cabinets are on the parallel wall and the perpendicular wall. My question is the following - I currently have a window opening on the wall where the staircase is but don't know the distance from the step below the window to the bottom of the window since the staircase isn't in yet. It may be difficult to open the window. Should I put in a fixed frosted window just to have some additional sunlight or would that look odd if all the other windows in the kitchen are not frosted? Or should I just put in a regular casement window to match the others and just leave it closed if its hard to reach and just put a shade up?

I have frosted window tint on my kitchen window because my “view” is my half naked neighbor in their pool area. Love it because it lets in light but blocks out ugly naked guy.

Sorry you lost me . IMO all the windows in a space should match but honestly hard to say without seeing the space . I think I would do the same window and if you need it then add a blind to match the other blinds in the space.

I had 25 PlyGem windows by Great Lakes installed about 4 years ago. They include a five section bow, a bay with a double hung on both ends and a large picture with a double hung on both ends. The windows are beautiful inside and out with wood tones on the windows I just mentioned plus two large double hungs in our kitchen. All other windows are white inside and out and are all double hung.The installers took four days to install the windows and the job was impeccable. To the OP, don't know what you have but they don't look like anything we have. We had a window lose its seal. We did not call Great Lakes but rather our dealer who has been in business 45 years. Within 3 weeks they replaced the glass in the bad window. Any brand of window is only as good as the installation and the dealer who stands by their work.

I second what skydawggy said. Knowing whose window it is may help along with the performance numbers if available. A couple of other thoughts - when the windows frosted up were there closed blinds or shades covering them? I am going to guess that these are casement or fixed casement units? With LowE on surface 2 and 5 (typical) and a 1/2" argon filled space there is no way that you should be seeing condensation on those units, much less frost, if everything is working as it should be. Even an aluminum spacer should be sufficient to eliminate surface condensation in a typical application. Looking at your numbers, your indoor RH is pretty darn low. The temps you gave indicate that you keep your house fairly cool in the winter which means at higher temps your RH is going to go down even more. With dual-LowE triples, the glass should not get cold enough to condensate at the moisture level that you have in your air. Outdoor RH is a non-issue with indoor condensation, but even if it wasn't - for a quick comparison - at 1Â°F outside temp and an outside RH of 57%, you have about .1614 grams of water per cubic meter of air...raise the temp to 50Â°F and keep the moisture level the same, and your RH is about 2% - which is pretty darn dry! Have you talked with the window company rep? I would be really curious to know what they told you.

there is also shade cloth for greenhouses (sold in garden centers) that has different grades of shading. you can try getting the one that gets the most light thru. It'll prolly will act as a privacy curtain too. even the usual sheer curtains will fuzz up the camera focus. then there are venetian blinds: when camera is pointing down, if you reverse them down towards outside they will block the view from top but allow enough light in . same with vertical blinds: depending on camera angle you can position them sideways to cover the view in, but still get light from the other side. sun angle matters too, of course. but they allow the max light to come thru vertically.

I just moved and I’ve finished the guest bath except for the window (covering in picture is from previous owner). It’s bubbly and not clear. I think I should cover the whole window but not sure what to use. Thanks!!

I have a frosted window in front of the sink because the only thing I can see is the garden shed the other windows are normal glass ..the windows all match apart from the glass in the sink window !

I would do a regular window to match the others. If you need to cover it for sun control or privacy, you could do a motorized cellular shade. They pretty much disappear when open, if you match the window color, and you can use a remote to open/close if you can't easily reach the window.

Should I do a fixed window since its above steps, or do an opening window on the chance I could reach and this way I have the option to open if I want?
