March 2013 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (17)Donna, I didn't take it that you were complaining about your mom. It's just that I understand as I've been through it, too. We let her handle things as long as possible, but the month she added her SS in twice and I asked her why, she said she needed more money....I was balancing her ckbk and then decided she couldn't write cks anymore if she was going to do that. Wish it was as easy as just writing in a deposit! Great job on getting to goal #4! Calliope, You know we'll want to see the dress when you've completed it. When I think of wool quilts, all I can visualize is the heavy wool that coats are made of. I know there is wool fabric that is softer and not as thick, but since I've never looked for it and I've never sewn with it, your quilt will be something new for me. Geraldine, Things are still fuzzy, but they seem to be the same from day to day, so maybe my eye has stablized. Will have to wait another month for dr appt. What sweet thoughts you have while sewing. Your very own sewing bee....I think I'd smile, too! :-) Wow, Sue, Just look at all you've done this month!! Great idea for the 25% off coupon.....I probably should, too, but don't think I will. Theresa, You have a valid reason for not spending a lot of time at your sewing machine. We all do the same thing when family comes for a visit and expect it. Family always has priority. You'll probably pass me up in April. lol Happy Spring, Lois!! LOL Probably feels like you live in the Arctic with all that snow and ice. You think your spring bulbs are underneath all that snow trying to push it out of the way??? You're right though....more quilting time than you thought you'd have. You all get a star!...See MoreMarch, 2017 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (8)Tennessee came in like a lion with all the bad storms yesterday. I am thankful for the warmer weather :-) I have my Sewn Seeds quilt on the long arm. I hope I can get started on that?? I also have 2 t-shirt quilts I need to get started on. I've not made one of them before, so I'll be back with advice on that! I'd like to get them laid out so I can get the stabilizer on them. I don't think it will take long if I can just get started on it. I do have a cute story to share..... There is a young guy (28) that exercises with us (community gym) in the mornings. He has a 1 yr old little boy and wanted to create a daddy-style "tactical" fanny pack to replace the diaper bag when they go out. I got him started on how to create a pattern and basic cutting and sewing techniques. I want you to know, he has taken off on this and you wouldn't believe how well he's done!!! He even bought his own sewing machine and dreams of sewing in his sleep!! He commented the other day that he wanted to stay home from work and sew! My boyfriend commented that he hears that from me all the time :-)...See MoreMarch, 2018 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (13)Beverly, I'm sorry about your friend. You mentioned hot air balloon which reminded me I have a UFO with hot air balloon fabric that should be worked on.....so many UFOs but I've been working on them. Three done and 2 more almost done this year. Go, Rita!!! Sometimes and thought dives in and there it is! Can't wait to see what you've got going on. Do it, Bev! That fish fabric will be gone before you know it. Don't forget, National Quilting Day is March 17th this year. I usually work on a special project that day and this year I'm planning on using this pattern: http://swimbikequilt.com/2013/08/finished-quilts-star-bright-quilt.html .... but using purple for the background and maybe teal for the star. If I like how it looks, and it shouldn't be that difficult to put together, this pattern will be a go-to for a quick and easy when needed. Can you just imagine the various colors you could put together? And such a neat way to use up some of those bigger scraps of fabric. Happy quilting, everyone!...See MoreJuly, 2019 Quilting Sewing Goals
Comments (12)Plans and plans and more plans. Whether it's sewing or not, we have things to do! Char, Let us know what pattern makes the top of the list. Maybe make two. lol Theresa, Hopefully those bad health issues in your household will come to an end soon. Just sitting at your machine when you're in the area is a good idea. Donna, It's probably going to be a couple days of rest time for you. lol Hope you had an enjoyable time. Bev, I'm embarrassed to admit I never finished the Zelda I started. I don't know what happened because I got right down to the last couple of things to make and was enjoying it. I still have everything on the cookie sheet so someday I hope to get back to it. You know we'll want pictures. Lois, You are so organized! All your ducks (quilts) in a row. That's kind of what I'm trying to do. Unfortunately, thinking about what all I'll need for a short cruise and packing is hurting my head. Oh well, being with family comes first. :-) Let us know what you decide to do. I have 5 of 10 BOMs completed and pieces cut for parts of 4 more. Hoping to get to the post office tomorrow to get the June birthday quilt sent. I forgot I need to work on the WIP pink baby quilt I would like have done sooner rather than later. :-)...See Moremsmeow
