I started these two from seeds about five years ago in a pot. The pot was on the east side of the house, so morning sun. The last two years they only got rain water. The last pot was about a 30gallon size which they outgrew and transferred to this spot in October. They were never trimmed and current height it about five feet and each are about two and a half feet wide. There are some at the Alamo that are about fifteen feet. I haven't personally seen any taller than that.

I grew mine from seed about 4 years ago. It has grown very slowly to 3.5‘. It‘s already blooming and has an interesting foliage but after having it, I think it’s overrated.

I bought 50 seeds of these on eBay 5 0r 6 years ago and I think at least 49 or them germinated and grew so I had plenty to spread around in different amounts of sun and shade. I'm a hunerd miles south of the Alamo and much hotter, drier and sunnier. The ones in midday shade grow faster and look better- they are about 12' tall now. They are all under an automated sprinkler system. I would agree that they are probably over- rated as a lawn specimen or similar because the late winter flowers are so fleeting but the foliage makes them a nice filler plant most of the year.
