Help w/Outdoor Grow Light for Shaded Patio

Requesting guidance and recommendations for outdoor grow lights for my back patio.

I've read the various threads with interest but most of the recommendations are for indoor lighting. My situation is I am replanting my patio area with flowering but partial shade tolerant perennials. The planting area is at the brick wall, which faces south. A new bldg went up last year which partially blocks the sun reducing summer sunlight to <4hrs.

I am wondering if mounting a 250 watt or higher floodlight on the side (by drainspout) and leaving it on during the afternoons would give me the extra few hours of sun to helps the plants really perform. Distance to the opposite wall is about 17ft.

My questions are:

  • Does this seam feasible and actually provide benefits to growing outdoors?
  • If yes, recommendations on grow lights and wattage?
  • Any other guidance, recommendations would be appreciated.
