Any pics of a creamy cab w/ a blue/grey/neutral color? Here are a few but I am not positive on the paint colors used. Can you post some pictures of the tile? Are you installing the Carrera in the shower? I would not. Have you soak tested a large sampling of this stone? Your bathroom lighting is going to play a huge roll in how the tile and paint show. What tyope of light you pick is key or rather what type of bulb you use. People typically have a preference of cool white. Warm white. Little light or loads of light. Prior to tiling all these light sources should be installed and one. Then once this is done you can do some paint samples. Thanks everyone! The major piece of furniture is a medium/french blue sectional that I love, and it does bring out the blue in the rug, and a dark grey media cabinet. My dilemma was do I go with a greyish/blue paint, which was my first impulse, and suggested by many of you, or a warm white with more "orange" undertones since the orange is opposite blue on the color wheel and would therefore potentially enhance the blue in the rug. But I definitely don't want the walls to look orange. Can't do photos yet as it is early in the construction phase- just framed out. Thanks for the lighting concern, I will have at least one lamp down there, but we are investing in high end recessed so it should be pleasant, and not like a garage or workroom. I also understand that other design elements will make a big difference, but we are talking about 1100 sq ft of carpeting so it will be a dominant part of the design. Just looking at swatches (carpet swatch next to paint swatch) I like BM Beacon grey... but am concerned it will read baby blue once up on the walls...

I agree with Marylee in theory. In practice, I have had a lot of success with having formulas cut to 50%. You do have to realize that you may not end up with what you think you will get because you have invented a completely different color. I prefer to use colors that already exist in the manufacturer's repertoire when they exist. But when I have the right shade of blue or green that is too dark, cutting it in half has given me exactly the result I was looking for. I don't know that it works as well with neutrals. And I take Marylee's point that there may not be a universally agreed upon way to cut a formula. DH and I frequent a hardware store that employs a paint mixer who is very engaged in what she is doing and has all the industry education from the manufacturer, so she does it the way the manufacturer recommends. So I suggest you at least look at chips for the various colors that have been suggested before you start trying to formulate a custom mix.
