VERY simple cell phone needed for 911
Comments (31)Now that I have more time.. My old neighbor & his lady friend had trac fones. He either had me do the minutes on both phones or went to Radio Shack because it was the only place that would do it for him. The last time I put minutes on his cell phone; it was pretty involved. He had to purchase the card then scratch it off & reading the numbers on the scratch off were a pain; then having to enter it into the phone. We have verizon; I'm not sure what type of pay as you go phones they have but they're expensive to do it that way. Last time I looked it was $30 a month plus minutes charge. I know people that do other pay as you go; Boost; virgin mobile & they are cheaper; especially if she's not going to use it much. I have never seen the one "elderly" phone in person but the pictures look good. The problem she may have is learning to use the address book or having to see the numbers to enter them in. If she can see the numbers; she may not see the screen. My 46 year old eyes are starting to have problems lol One thing to consider would be a case that she can wear around her neck; get her into the habit of having it with her in case she ever falls getting the mail or where ever because my neighbor did fall going into his house; I don't know how he managed to get up & climb 6 steps to call 911. Of course he'd just brought his trac fone into the house & put it on the table; then went outside to finish unloading his car....See Morecell phone down toilet -- help
Comments (7)if it ain't out of there within a few seconds, even if it dries out chances are it is never going to work properly again. my headset broke once and i had to hold my phone to my ear for 2 hours straight while working in a 100+ degree building. my sweat killed the phone. older phones, or other electronics for that matter, were a little better about surviving water than newer ones. the micro circuitry on modern devices prevents you from getting the mineral deposits out from under the chips. it may work fine for a few days, but crystals and corrosion continue to grow and then BOOM it is dead. pull the toilet and see if it is lodged in teh trap in the base. if not, then snake hte line to see if you can push it thru. i doubt it hung up though, as you say all other plumbing fixtures work fine....See MoreI washed my cell phone!
Comments (12)Posted by vicki7: Maybe someday they'll make phones that are water-proof." They do already. They also make ones resistant to salt mist. You can also get an otterbox for your devices if you need to take them into a pool for whatever reason. There is also a way to waterproof any phone by filling it with a silicone filler. The phone will still work but you will void your warranty and make any future repairs impossible. There are also solar powered cell phones that eliminate the problems of wet batteries their connections. http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/9715.html http://waterproofcellphone.net/page2.html Here is a link that might be useful: Waterproof Cell Phones...See MoreI have to buy a cell phone...
Comments (19)I am going back to a land line, I am tired of worrying about the safety of cells when someone calls and keeps me on the thing for an hour. I am not even going for cordless. I will drag out my Kermit and Mickey Mouse wired phones and connect them. Cox Cable is my server and I got their best phone service for $9 a month plus $5. for taxes. It is a 2 year promotion, no contract and at the end of the two years I will go back to basic phone service....See Morebac717
